✅ Main Changes
1. Unified and Simplified Procedure:
• The Act consolidates previously fragmented regulations (separate laws for different professions) into a single piece of legislation, overseen by the Ministry of Health.
• The aim is to establish a faster, more cost-effective, and transparent process for recognizing qualifications of foreign healthcare professionals.
2. Language Proficiency Checked at a Later Stage
• Previously, Slovenian language proficiency was required at the beginning of the procedure; under the new law, it is verified in the final stage—before license issuance, registration, or the decision on recognition.
3. Introduction of Up to 6-Month Training
• Foreign applicants are allowed to undergo training with an employer for up to 6 months, facilitating their integration into the cultural and social environment as well.
4. Employment Bond Requirement
• After recognition of their qualifications, foreign healthcare professionals are tied to the employer; otherwise, they must reimburse the costs of the recognition procedure.
5. Standardized Professional Assessment
• The evaluation is conducted by appointed experts (which may include individuals, associations, or educational institutions), replacing previous commissions—primarily medical chambers.
6. Permits for Demonstration Procedures
• Temporary registration is introduced for carrying out “demonstration” procedures (interventions based on foreign approaches), allowing the presentation of new techniques and methods.
🛡️ Safeguards for Professionalism and Quality
• The Ministry emphasizes that despite the accelerated process, professional standards remain high; appointed experts can impose additional requirements.
• Nevertheless, the Medical Chamber warns that replacing commissions with individual experts and omitting the ENIC-NARIC opinion could reduce transparency and professional rigor.

Depending on how many people you’re talking to:

Romantic and grammatically correct 💙

Tongue-twister alert! 😅

Even though Slovenian is a Slavic language (like Russian or Polish), it has lots of unique words, grammar, and even pronunciation.
Some say it’s like a beautiful linguistic island!

Slovenia has over 40 dialects – that’s a lot for such a small country!
