This is not psycholinguistics, nor neurolinguistics—but don’t worry, there will be linguistics! Add a dash of poetry, a touch of music, and you’ve got an evening all about celebrating the Greek language!

Dear friends,
Another successful psycho-year is coming to an end. As we're recapping, some moments to remember and some new achievements to celebrate! An open-access monograph that has set a new downloading record for the publisher, two new papers in the last month, and Lea's prestigious Prešeren award!
Happy holidays to all, stay tuned for more psycho-neuro action in 2026!

For the past 6 months, we were very lucky to host Prof. Phaedra Royle from the University of Montreal (Canada), who chose to spend her sabbatical year at the University of Ljubljana and our lab.
Among other research activities, Phaedra gave a series of lectures on neuroimaging and the processing of morphology.
Merci Phaedra, c'était un plaisir de t'accueillir!

Italian blasphemy and German ingenuity: how swear words differ around the world Once swearwords were dismissed as a sign of low intelligence, now researchers argue the ‘power’ of taboo words has been overlooked

We're in the Guardian!
Some years ago, we were asked by an international group of researchers to contribute Slovenian data on taboo words. Cool, right? Our Slovenian data, together with data from 12 other languages (spoken in 17 countries), were published in a nice paper...which was spotted by the Guardian, and here you have a post about it:

Our project NEDIS was at the Science of Aphasia last week in Copenhagen 🇩🇰 🇩🇰, and the Workshop on Assessing Morphological Complexity in Language Disorders, taking place right after.
👉 Karin Kavčič and Christina Manouilidou presented data from 5 participants, all children with dyslexia, who received ventral tDCS stimulation and behavioral training.
👉 Reading fluency improved in all participants, which is consistent with ventral stimulation.
👉 Phonological awareness also improved, suggesting an effect of behavioral training as well.
🔎Stay put, as we will be applying dorsal stimulation to our current group of participants to better understand the effects of stimulation.
And of course, contact us, if you are interested in more or want to join as a participant.
