Expand your (he)Art Space to grow your world in self confidence, resilience and pursuing what you love through artistic practice and self growth. Expanding Art Space was founded on a principle of creating a fine art based community were educational opportunities are provided for anyone who is passionate or is curious in pursuing art to self discovery. My name is Mishel and my goal is to create a s

pace where true support and opportunities can be provided to young and new artists regardless of their age or educational back ground. As an Artist I want to bring back that wonderment and love in seeing the world through a different perspective that gives hope to others while overcoming mental struggles and false beliefs that we had adopted through our traumas and past experiences.

I encourage you to find some inspiration and create art under your own safe haven.

Feeling blessed that my favourite spot supports my goals by keeping me dry ♥️

My latest Newsletter is out!

This has been such a long time coming.

I’ve been wracking my brain of how to make this newsletter interesting and to give a new way of working with movement through art by zeroing in on and concentrating on play and experimentation with the elements of art.

So if you’re like me and sick and tired of always having to refer research and recreating what’s already known, join in the challenge and think outside the box with this one.

The best part is that I haven’t mentioned other ways of experimentation and it’s likely I haven’t thought up what you might do in the near future!

When you do come up with something new, let me know!

Let’s level up from Creative Wanderers to Explorers together :)

Introducing New things, celebrating mini wins and putting my experimental hat on with movement to give you some practical examples, an exercise and getting you to think outside the box:

𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗲:

I used to envy those that always seemed to have more speed at accomplishing a drawing or a painting in class, even if we were all working on at the same time. I used to feel a lack in myself because of it.

But today I know that isn’t true because running to the finish line is not the point or the goal.

I love how these two sketchbook pieces are unfinished despite the Sunday & Monday drawing session around town and in surrounding nature are lengthy ones. It gives me and my students a chance to:

1.) enjoy the moment without rushing
2.) take adequate breaks especially when you have been staring at the paper and sitting in one position a long time
3.) enjoying the fresh air and having an opportunity to snack in between (super important for us foodies)
4.)going through the process and having opportunities to get bored (there is such a thing as creative intentional stamina)
5.) build resilience at the same time.

Why you should take part in art during the Summer season:

1. It's therapeutic
2. You don't have as many excuses to say no to following your interests and passion to create
3. Joining a workshop once a week in fresh air is as almost as good as meditating.
4. When drawing outside you don't have the pressures of being in the classroom and needing to create perfection.
5. When you let your mind wonder and immerse yourself in your surroundings, we often find that we lose track of time and it's becomes all worth it, there is no need for rush
6. Learning a new skill doesn't have to be or feel like an obligation.

Sign-up to my Summer Workshops here: https://forms.gle/LMKERQhjqFR5XiWD8

Meet me every Sunday and/or Monday for a 2/3 hour drawing session whether you like nature or have an obsession for architecture, I've got the best of both worlds!
