🚌 Our Year 4–6 students recently enjoyed an inspiring field trip to the beautiful coastal towns of Piran and Portorož. 🌊☀️

During the trip, they explored local culture and art through visits to the Hemeroteka in Tartini Square and the Monfort Gallery, where they experienced the international exhibition Earth Gazes Back II 🌱🌎. The exhibition offered a unique opportunity to discover the connection between art, science, and our environment.

🔍 By linking classroom learning with real-world experiences, students developed new perspectives, expanded their creativity, and deepened their understanding of the world around them. 🌿💡

💙 Experiences like these inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and show that some of the most valuable learning happens beyond the classroom walls. 🌟

At Koper International School, learning comes alive when subjects connect, creativity flows, and students take the lead in their own discoveries.

Our recent cross-curricular exploration of the Roman Empire is a beautiful example of how meaningful learning goes far beyond memorising facts. By integrating history, geography, science, art, and practical life skills, our students engaged in a rich, hands-on journey through time. They designed and built Roman palaces while studying architectural principles, created intricate mosaics inspired by ancient techniques, and even developed sewing skills by crafting their own togas.

This project-based approach allows students to experience learning in a tangible way—seeing, creating, and understanding concepts deeply rather than simply recalling information. It fosters curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and a genuine love for learning.

We follow the English National Curriculum enriched through the incorporation of Montessori methodology, our classrooms are thoughtfully prepared environments where students are encouraged to explore with purpose and independence. Under the experienced leadership of Ms. Vlacovich year 4-5 co teacher, who brings over 20 years of expertise, our approach nurtures each child’s natural desire to learn.

This project was further enriched by the collaboration of our passionate educators: Mr. Davis also the co teacher to year 4-5 whose specialisation in Drama, English, and History brings stories and contexts vividly to life, and Ms. Narobe, our Art teacher, who inspires creativity and expression through visual arts.

Together, we strive to create learning experiences that are not only educational, but meaningful, memorable, and deeply human.

Because at Koper International School, we believe education should be felt, lived, and understood—not just remembered.

At Koper International School’s Primary School Art Club, creativity meets purpose every Monday! Guided by our wonderful art teacher, Ms. Narobe, our young artists have been busy crafting beautiful Easter decorations using recycled materials.

Through these hands-on activities, students not only explore their artistic talents but also develop an important understanding of recycling and the value of everyday materials. It’s inspiring to see how something simple can be transformed into something truly special!

We are also happy to welcome a limited number of external students to join our Art Club every Monday at 14:45 - 15:45 —come create, learn, and celebrate art with us in a fun and eco-friendly way!

At Koper International School, learning is more than just lessons — it’s an experience that sparks curiosity, creativity, and confidence in every child.

Our Year 1 and Year 2 students recently took part in a wonderfully engaging archaeology-inspired art lesson, beautifully linked to their current history topic. Through this hands-on activity, students explored the fascinating world of ancient civilizations, imagining what life was like in the past while expressing their ideas through creative art.

From carefully crafting “ancient artefacts” to experimenting with textures, patterns, and storytelling through design, the lesson encouraged children to think like young archaeologists — curious, observant, and imaginative. Activities like this not only deepen their understanding of history but also help develop focus, fine motor skills, and independent thinking.

Most importantly, it inspires a genuine love of learning. When children are excited and engaged, their confidence grows — and that’s exactly what we nurture every day.

One of the things that makes Koper International School so special is our small class sizes, with up to just 8 students in primary this year. This allows every child to receive personalised attention, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and able to thrive.

Our dedicated team of experienced British teachers bring both passion and expertise into the classroom. We are proud to have Mrs. Whitton as our year 1-2 teacher, who brings over 25 years of teaching experience, guiding and supporting our young learners with care and professionalism.

This particular activity was led by our talented whole-school art teacher, Ms. Narobe who consistently inspires students to express themselves creatively and confidently. She works closely with the primary class teachers to help consondilate children's learning through art.

At Koper International School, we believe in educating the whole child — encouraging creativity, building strong academic foundations, and nurturing a lifelong love of discovery.

Today is the day! 🐣🌷

Our Primary Easter Egg Hunt is in full swing, led by our wonderful Year 1–2 class teacher, Mrs Whitton. The excitement has been building all week, and seeing the children’s smiles as they search high and low for hidden treasures has been truly heartwarming.

With our small class sizes of just 6-8 students this year, every child benefits from personalised learning and support — and moments like these make our close-knit environment even more special.

The Easter egg hunt is a much-loved part of British culture, and we’re so proud to bring this tradition to life for our pupils. Even more special, our Secondary students joined in by helping to hide the eggs, creating a beautiful sense of community, teamwork, and shared joy across year groups.

It’s days like today that remind us how important it is to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories together. 💛

Happy Easter from all of us!
