These days, we are hosting three teachers from Neumünster at the SIC Alma M. Karlin.
Yesterday, they observed chemistry lessons and laboratory work in our grammar school programme.

After a delicious traditional Slovenian lunch prepared especially for them by students of the gastronomy programme, Zoja Klara from the tourism technician programme took them on a guided tour of Celje. The walk through the city was further enriched by Sabrina from the pharmacy technician programme, who added professional insights from her field.

Our guests thus had the chance to experience the vibrant pulse of our school and the rich history that shapes our city every day.

Danes nam je Julija predstavila svojo nepozabno izkušnjo Erasmus+ mobilnosti, kjer je na Nizozemskem opravljala delovno prakso v restavraciji. 🌍👩‍🍳

Svoje vtise je delila s sošolci, ki so z zanimanjem prisluhnili njenim zgodbam o delu, kulturi in vsakdanjem življenju v tujini. 🗣️✨

Zoja is already a seasoned Erasmus+ participant and feels completely at home at the Taggenbrunn wine estate. 🍇✨ Her tasks are wonderfully diverse: she supports the reception desk and the estate’s shop, helps prepare breakfast, and contributes to the hotel’s housekeeping. Her mentors praise her for mastering every responsibility with ease. Even basic communication in German poses no problem for her – another skill she’s putting into practice day by day. 🌍💪

🍇 Taggenbrunn – where passion, tradition, and time come together 🍷✨

For more than 20 years, vines have been thriving on the Taggenbrunn estate. The real foundation for large-scale viticulture, however, was laid in 2011, when Andrea and Alfred Riedl acquired the medieval castle Taggenbrunn and the surrounding vineyards.

The conditions here are truly exceptional: fertile slate soils, sun-drenched south-west slopes, and above all the expertise and dedication of master winemaker Hubert Vittori. 🌞🌿

👉 On roughly 40 hectares, everything is done by hand – from pruning and tending the vines to the harvest. This meticulous work is complemented by state-of-the-art cellar technology, short transport routes, and a strong commitment to sustainability.

🏆 It is therefore no surprise that Taggenbrunn wines have received numerous prestigious awards, among them:
– Gold Medal at the Berliner Wine Trophy for Pinot Noir 2021, as well as for Jacques Paagnier and the aromatic Gewürztraminer.
– Top Falstaff ratings, with many wines scoring between 90 and 93 points.
– The coveted title of Carinthian Regional Champion at the Salon Österreich Wein. 🥇

Once advertised under the slogan “Taste of Time”, the wines are now symbolized by the Zeitgöttin – the majestic Goddess of Time, who has become the unmistakable trademark of the estate. ⏳✨

Today, Zoja took a stroll through the elegant reception shelves and sent us a few impressions – along with sunny greetings from the enchanting Taggenbrunn and a warm invitation for you to visit one day, too. 🌞📸

✨ Matic has quickly settled into his new work environment. Thanks to his great motivation and dedication, he’s already been entrusted with his very first independent tasks. Today, he’s lending a hand at a wedding reception and sends us this warm greeting straight from the kitchen. 👨‍🍳💐

🎯 Not far from St. Veit an der Glan, where we are staying, lies the glacial lake Längsee (“Long Lake”). It is one of the larger bathing lakes in Carinthia, yet compared to the better-known Wörthersee or Lake Klopein, it remains much calmer and far less crowded. Situated at 550 meters above sea level, the lake stretches about 1.3 km in length, up to 800 meters in width, and reaches a depth of almost 22 meters.

💦 The water is crystal clear and in summer pleasantly warm for swimming, with temperatures rising to around 25 °C.

🏖️ Along its shores you’ll find both organized lidos and natural bathing spots. Families especially love it for its relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. A variety of water sports such as stand-up paddling, rowing, or pedalo rides are possible. Motorboats are not allowed, which makes the lake even more tranquil. The surroundings offer many beautiful walking and hiking trails.

🏰 Right on the lakeside stands the St. Georgen am Längsee Abbey, a former Benedictine convent. Today it serves as a hotel, seminar, and event center, adding cultural significance to the area.

🌿 The lake is framed by meadows, forests, and gentle hills. Parts of the area are protected: along the shore water lilies and wide reed belts flourish, providing a habitat for numerous bird species.

Above the picturesque town of St. Veit an der Glan in the heart of Carinthia rises the majestic Taggenbrunn Castle, whose origins date back to the 12th century. For centuries, the castle served as a strategic stronghold, but over time it fell into decay. Today, it stands proudly restored – a cultural landmark that uniquely bridges the past and the present.

At the center of this revival is the Riedl family, internationally renowned for their successful watchmaking company Jacques Lemans. With vision and dedication, they purchased the abandoned estate in 2011 and breathed new life into the castle and its surroundings.

Together with renowned vintners, they planted vineyards on the once deserted grounds and created the Taggenbrunn Winery, which today spans around 40 hectares. The favorable climate, cool nights, and mineral-rich soils give the wines their distinctive character – among them Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, and Grüner Veltliner.

But the Riedl family aimed for more than winemaking – their vision was to create a place where art, culture, and enjoyment come together in one holistic experience. With the creative inspiration of André Heller, Taggenbrunn has developed into a vibrant cultural hub, hosting exhibitions, concerts, and unique artistic installations.

This successful blend of tradition and innovation has turned Taggenbrunn into one of Carinthia’s most outstanding destinations. Whether it’s a walk through the vineyards, a guided tour of the castle, or a glass of wine overlooking the rolling hills – Taggenbrunn is an experience for all the senses, leaving lasting impressions long after the visit.

✨ Start of Erasmus+ Internship in Austria ✨

Today, two of our students – Zoja and Matic – began their internship at the beautiful Weingut Taggenbrunn estate. 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓

Over the next month, Zoja will be gaining experience at the reception of a boutique hotel, while Matic will be developing his skills in the kitchen of a top-class restaurant. 🍴🛎️

On their first day, they met their mentors and colleagues, explored the magical estate, walked through the vineyards, visited the museum, and discovered the impressive festival hall, which can host up to 650 guests. 🎶🏰

Ahead of them lies a priceless experience that combines hospitality, tourism, culture, and sustainability – all in a beautifully organized international environment. 💫

We wish them a successful start and many new adventures! 🌍

✨ Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to experience a new adventure. After just over two hours of a pleasant drive through beautiful Slovenian and Austrian Carinthia, we arrived at our destination – Taggenbrunn. 🌍
Matic and Zoja will spend one month here on their Erasmus+ internship. Today we took some time to explore the surroundings – and the views are simply breathtaking. We’re sharing a few of them with you. 📸✨
