Our Grade 6 students proudly presented their SureStart Capstone Projects, showcasing innovative AI-powered solutions designed to address real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
After 15 weeks of exploring generative AI, machine learning, and app development, students demonstrated their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through projects that reflected both technical knowledge and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
Parents had the opportunity to watch the presentations, engage with students, and learn more about the ideas and inspiration behind each project. We are incredibly proud of our young innovators and all they have accomplished throughout this journey.

Over the weekend, 7 of our student‑athletes competed in the 1st race of the YAL Aquathon Series, held at Nexus.
For some, it was their very first aquathon experience; for others, it felt like their hundredth race. Across the board, it was a fantastic day of teamwork, resilience, and fun.
We’re incredibly proud of how our students represented the school and supported one another throughout the event.
We’re already looking forward to the next race happening on 25 July in Woodlands— and even more excited to host the 3rd race of the series ourselves on 29 August.

Meet Nicholas, a Grade 9 student composing his own path—one note at a time.
Nicholas began playing the piano at just 8 years old, and by 10, he was already asking himself a bold question: “What if I made my own instead of playing others’ compositions?” Since then, music has become his canvas, something he describes as “like painting, but with sound.”
His passion has already taken him beyond the classroom. Nicholas recently took part in the prestigious Berlin International Film Score Competition and has performed at the Esplanade, where he brought to life compositions by Zhou Jiong Xun.
At XWA, Nicholas is an active member of the school orchestra and is currently working on an original piece for the ensemble to perform. He credits the school environment for giving him the freedom to explore, experiment, and grow creatively.
In the future, Nicholas hopes to compose music for films, combining storytelling with sound. With aspirations to join a music or arts-focused university, he’s just getting started on what promises to be a remarkable journey.

Our MYP Science Fair was a fantastic celebration of curiosity, creativity, and discovery! Students across Grades 6, 7, and 8 showcased their scientific thinking through a wide range of investigations and demonstrations: From exploring the principles of aerodynamics to testing how different amounts of baking soda affect a muffin’s height.
The fair highlighted not only students’ knowledge and problem-solving skills, but also their collaboration, communication, and willingness to ask meaningful questions about the world around them. Through engaging models, experiments, and presentations, our students demonstrated how science helps us understand why and how things work.
An inspiring showcase of the inquiry, innovation, and real-world learning that are at the heart of the IB experience. Well done to all our young scientists!

Meet Amelia, a Grade 4 student with a big heart for animals and an even bigger dream for the planet 🌎
Amelia is part of Roots & Shoots, a global environmental, animal welfare, and humanitarian youth programme founded by the Jane Goodall Institute. Together with her peers, she recently completed a project on house lizards — learning more about these often misunderstood creatures and how we can live alongside them in harmony.
Next on her list? Pigeons! Amelia hopes to continue discovering better ways to protect or co-exist peacefully with the animals that share our urban spaces.
Beyond her love for wildlife, Amelia is also passionate about the arts. She recently took on her first leading role in the Primary Years musical Aristocats KIDS, and credits her confidence and growth to the warm, supportive environment created by her teachers and friends at school.
With big dreams for the future, Amelia dreams of becoming “the second Jane Goodall,” using her voice to protect animals and help save the planet’s ecosystems. She also hopes to combine her love for painting, drawing, and sketching with environmental advocacy, creating art that inspires others to care for the Earth too 🎨💚
