Northbrooks Secondary School Our school motto, Soaring Yet Rooted, challenges our students to SOAR to greater heights whilst staying ROOTED in strong values.

We aim for all students to strive for their very best in whatever they do and always be grateful to the people who have helped them in their journey. Northbrooks’name in Chinese, 思源中学, is derived from the Yuan Dynasty proverb ‘yin shui si yuan’ (饮水思源) - to always remember the roots and be grateful to their family, teachers, friends and country for the successes achieved in life. 🗣️✨

Last month, our school had the privilege of hosting the SPH Zaobao Schools team for a 《Teen你敢敢说》 audience dialogue session centred on parent-child relationships.

Inspired by Episode 3 of 《Teen你敢敢说2》, “Parents and Me”, which featured our very own Chloe Yang from 4E, the session brought together Sec 1–4 Higher Chinese students and student volunteers for an honest and meaningful conversation about family, communication and understanding.

Many students resonated with the topics discussed and bravely shared their own thoughts and experiences, while listening to the perspectives of their peers, teachers and parents. We are especially proud of our Brooksians for being confident, thoughtful and willing to express their views openly.

A heartfelt thank you to our Mother Tongue teachers for their dedication in nurturing confident communicators, and to Mr Henry Ng and Mr Cai Zhiwen for joining us as parent representatives and helping our students better understand the perspectives of parents. Do click on the link in our bio to for the ‘Parents and Me’ episode featuring Chloe!

Thank you, SPH Zaobao Schools, for providing a meaningful platform for youth voices to be heard and valued. ❤️

Celebrating World Book Day 2026 through meaningful literary experiences ✨📚

In conjunction with World Book Day, our CL students engaged in a series of enriching author sessions that brought stories beyond the pages and into real life

On 7 May 2026, a group of our students attended the “World Book Day – Authors Speak” Guided Reading Session at Hwa Chong Institution, where they were introduced to “The Little Nyonya: Emerald Hill”. Author Li Huibing and illustrator Qiu Zu’er shared insights into their creative journey from adapting scripts into novels to illustrating vivid characters.

This was followed by a special “Meet the Author” session on 14 May 2026 in our school, featuring Mai, Luobing, author of “Annie and Woofy”. Students were immersed in her storytelling process, engaged in lively discussions, and had the opportunity to interact with her through Q&A and book signing sessions.

Across both events, students not only deepened their appreciation for literature but also experienced firsthand the passion, creativity, and dedication behind every story.

These experiences have inspired our students to continue exploring the world of books, nurturing a lifelong love for reading and learning. 📖💛

From gloomy skies to a rainbow-painted morning, our school’s 2026 Cross Country Championships was certainly one to remember. 🌈🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

At Bedok Reservoir, our Brooksians pushed themselves beyond their limits, racing with determination and resilience as they chased their personal bests. Every step taken, every cheer heard and every finish line crossed reminded us what Brooksian spirit truly looks like.

On 29 April, our Secondary 2 cohort and English Drama students had the opportunity to watch The BFG at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.

Presented by the UK’s Royal Shakespeare Company, we were enthralled by the magic of the stage, the ingenious use of puppetry, and the captivating acting that brought Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s story to life.

We would like to thank Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Keppel Nights Programme and Singapore Repertory Theatre for this truly wonderful experience. We had a wondercrump time at the show and all the whizz-popping and phizz-whizzing magic truly made the performance so unforgettable for our Brooksians!
