Some snapshots of the art of dancing fingers recently 👯‍♀️

Dancing fingers don’t happen overnight. These little moments are part of the process 💗

Composer of the Month 🎼: Ludwig Van Beethoven

Portraits of Beethoven in the eyes of students. Some makeup for him - some rosy cheeks and rosy dimples!

A small glimpse into the first steps of learning piano 🌱

Not every moment is about getting it right.
Sometimes it’s about figuring things out,
taking it slowly,
and learning how to learn.

These beginnings may be quiet,
but they matter more than we think.
Each of them with their own timeline,
At their own pace.

Over the past few months, lessons have been filled with small steps and quiet progress.

There have been moments of figuring things out -
for both myself as a teacher, and for the students.

Some days are smooth, some a little harder.
Each child moves differently,
but all slowly finding their way at the piano 💛

As I teach, students come and go.

Some lose interest (for many reasons),
some struggle to find meaning in practice,
and some simply haven’t found joy yet.

I’ve noticed it’s rarely just about the student.
Learning an instrument can often feel like a lonely journey,
so the experiences they have along the way often seem to make a difference in whether they keep going.

Those who stay are usually surrounded by encouragement,
from both family and teachers alike.

For me, this feels like one of the biggest factors.

A little reflection of the week:
Not everybody who starts piano will continue.

Along the way, there are many reasons why some stop -
loss of interest, challenges with practice, don’t understand the meaning or simply not finding joy in it get.

But often, it’s not just about the student. The journey they experience plays a big part.

The ones who stay are often supported along the way -
by both family and teachers 🌱

A little Hari Raya tune 🌙✨
A special request - simplified for a beginner, and learned over 2 lessons.

Niliyyah is still getting familiar with her notes,
but already able to bring music she recognises to life within a few months of lessons 💛

It was also a little challenge - reading a tune she already knows by ear. Well done! 🌱

Wishing everyone Selamat Hari Raya ✨

For the past 6 months, meeting a few more new students and parents new to the music journey, here’s my reflection as a teacher:

1. Not every child who enjoys music shows it by rushing to the piano.
2. Sometimes interest is quiet - humming along, experimenting with sounds, or sharing what they’ve learned.
3. Sitting down to practice is a skill that grows over time, and every lesson can be a creative moment just for them 🎶

It’s been such a joy noticing how little playful signs can be just as meaningful as eager practice. 🌸

Don’t give up just yet! We are only beginning our adventure 🎡
