📖 “O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant.”
(Surah Al-Isrā’ 17:3 — Shaheeh International)
Among all the qualities that Allah could have highlighted about Prophet Nūḥ عليه السلام, Allah chose to describe him as:
“A grateful servant.”
Subḥānallāh.
Nūḥ عليه السلام was a prophet of immense patience. He called his people to Allah for centuries, endured rejection, ridicule, and hardship, yet Allah praised him for his gratitude.
This teaches us a profound lesson:
True gratitude is not merely saying “Alḥamdulillāh” when life is easy.
True gratitude is remaining thankful even during trials.
Many people remember Allah when blessings arrive.
The grateful servant remembers Allah in both ease and difficulty.
Nūḥ عليه السلام saw Allah's blessings everywhere:
🌿 in guidance
🌿 in faith
🌿 in worship
🌿 in salvation
🌿 in every opportunity to obey Allah
The more a believer reflects upon Allah's countless favours, the more gratitude fills his heart.
And the more gratitude fills the heart, the more blessings Allah bestows.
As Allah says:
"If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favour]."
(Surah Ibrāhīm 14:7)
Today, let us ask ourselves:
Are we known among people as grateful servants?
More importantly, are we known to Allah as grateful servants?
May Allah make us among His thankful servants who remember Him in times of ease and hardship alike. Āmīn. 🤍
*Summary*
This āyah reminds us that gratitude is among the highest qualities of a believer. Prophet Nūḥ عليه السلام experienced some of the greatest challenges faced by any prophet, yet Allah praised him as a “grateful servant.” This shows that gratitude is not dependent upon circumstances; rather, it is a reflection of a heart that recognises Allah's blessings in every situation. A grateful servant sees every blessing as a gift from Allah and every trial as an opportunity to draw closer to Him.

📖 “And if you deny [the message] - already nations before you have denied. And there is not upon the Messenger except [the duty of] clear notification.”
(Surah Al-‘Ankabūt 29:18)
One of the greatest comforts for every caller to Allah, parent, teacher, and community worker is found in this āyah.
The mission of the Messengers was to convey the truth clearly.
Their responsibility was not to force guidance into people's hearts.
Many of the Prophets faced rejection, ridicule, opposition, and denial. Yet they remained patient because they understood that guidance belongs to Allah alone.
This āyah teaches us an important principle:
🌿 We are responsible for conveying the truth.
🌿 We are not responsible for controlling the results.
Sometimes we remind our children, yet they do not listen.
Sometimes we advise a loved one, yet they persist in their mistakes.
Sometimes we teach, give da'wah, and share beneficial reminders, yet people turn away.
Do not become discouraged.
Nūḥ عليه السلام called his people for centuries.
Many Prophets had only a small number of followers.
Yet they were successful because they fulfilled their duty before Allah.
The believer measures success not merely by numbers, popularity, or visible outcomes, but by sincerity, patience, and faithfulness to the truth.
Continue planting seeds of guidance.
Continue inviting with wisdom and mercy.
Continue speaking the truth with sincerity.
And leave the hearts to Allah.
May Allah make us sincere in conveying His religion and grant us patience when facing rejection. Āmīn. 🤍
This āyah is especially relevant for those involved in da‘wah and teaching. Many people become disappointed when they do not see immediate results. Allah reminds us that even the Messengers were denied. The duty of the believer is to convey the truth clearly, sincerely, and wisely. As for guidance, it remains solely in the Hands of Allah سبحانه وتعالى.

🌿 “Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”
(Surah Al-Ḥadīd 57:1)
Pause for a moment and reflect.
The birds in the sky.
The trees in the forests.
The waves in the oceans.
The stars in the heavens.
The mountains, clouds, rain, and wind.
Every creation of Allah glorifies Him in its own way.
Allah says:
"There is not a thing except that it glorifies Him with His praise, but you do not understand their glorification." (Al-Isrā’ 17:44)
Subḥānallāh.
While the entire universe is engaged in the worship of its Creator, where do we stand?
This āyah reminds us that dhikr is not something strange or burdensome. Rather, it is the natural state of creation.
The believer finds peace in remembering Allah because his heart is returning to its true purpose.
Notice how Allah concludes the āyah with two beautiful Names:
Al-'Azīz (The Mighty) — nothing can overcome His power.
Al-Ḥakīm (The Most Wise) — nothing in His creation or decree is without wisdom.
When life becomes difficult, remember:
Allah is Mighty enough to help you.
Allah is Wise enough to know what is best for you.
Let your tongue be moist with:
Subḥānallāh.
Alḥamdulillāh.
Lā ilāha illa Allāh.
Allāhu Akbar.
For you are joining the glorification that fills the heavens and the earth.
May Allah make us among those who remember Him often and whose hearts find tranquillity in His remembrance. Āmīn. 🤍
Ringkas
Surah Al-Ḥadīd opens by reminding us that the entire universe glorifies Allah. This should cultivate humility within us. We are not independent beings living in a silent universe; rather, we are surrounded by a creation constantly engaged in the worship of its Lord. The question is not whether Allah is being glorified—the question is whether we are participating in that glorification.

🌱 “Have they not looked at the earth — how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?”
(Surah Ash-Shu‘arā’ 26:7)
Allah سبحانه وتعالى repeatedly calls mankind to observe the signs around them.
The earth beneath our feet is not merely soil and stone. It is a living testimony to the power, wisdom, mercy, and creativity of Allah.
From a single piece of land emerge countless varieties of plants, fruits, flowers, trees, crops, colours, scents, and benefits. Yet the water may be the same, the soil may be the same, and the sun may be the same.
Who then gives each plant its unique form, taste, fragrance, and benefit?
It is Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
This āyah teaches us that reflection upon creation is a pathway to knowing the Creator.
A believer does not merely look at nature; he reflects upon it.
He sees:
🌱 Allah's Power in creation
🌱 Allah's Wisdom in design
🌱 Allah's Mercy in provision
🌱 Allah's Greatness in diversity
The more we reflect upon the signs of Allah around us, the stronger our īmān becomes and the more grateful our hearts grow.
Perhaps the next time we see a flower bloom, a tree bearing fruit, or rain nourishing the earth, we should pause and remember:
These are not ordinary events.
They are signs pointing us to Allah.
May Allah make us among those who reflect upon His signs and increase in faith through them. Āmīn. 🤍
Ringkas
The Qur'an frequently invites us to look at the heavens, the earth, the mountains, the rain, the plants, and the alternation of day and night. These signs are not merely for scientific observation but for spiritual reflection. Every leaf, every flower, and every fruit is a reminder that behind this magnificent creation is the wisdom and power of Allah سبحانه وتعالى.

📖 “[This is a declaration of] disassociation from Allah and His Messenger to those polytheists with whom you had made a treaty.”
(Surah At-Tawbah 9:1)
This opening verse of Surah At-Tawbah is often misunderstood when read without its historical context.
It does not speak about all non-Muslims in general. Rather, it addresses specific groups among the pagan Arabs who repeatedly violated their treaties, betrayed their agreements, and acted treacherously towards the Muslims.
One of the important lessons from this āyah is that Islam is a religion of justice and honour.
When agreements are made, they must be respected.
When promises are given, they must be fulfilled.
When betrayal occurs repeatedly, Islam does not require believers to remain naive or ignore wrongdoing.
At the same time, Allah commands fairness and transparency. The declaration in this surah was publicly announced, giving notice and clarity rather than resorting to deception or treachery.
This teaches us that a believer should be:
• truthful in agreements
• trustworthy in dealings
• clear in communication
• just even with opponents
In our daily lives, this āyah reminds us to honour our commitments—whether in marriage, business, friendships, employment, or community responsibilities.
The believer's word should carry weight because he fears Allah before he fears people.
May Allah make us among those who fulfil our promises, honour our trusts, and uphold justice in all our affairs. Āmīn. 🤍
A beautiful theme that runs throughout Surah At-Tawbah is that loyalty and disavowal are based upon truth and justice, not personal emotions. Islam teaches mercy, kindness, and fairness, but it also teaches firmness against betrayal and treachery. A believer combines both qualities: mercy where mercy is due, and justice where justice is required.
