Going to Singapore Polytechnic(even though I could enter JC then) to pursue my diploma was one of the best decision I have ever made in my life.
Topology is a branch of Mathematics that focuses on fundamental properties of objects.
At much higher level(postgraduate) you'll get to see concepts learnt in advanced pure Mathematics used in real life Quantum Physics. Maths and science would intertwin in a practical way beyond our widest imagination.
1. Topological Spaces: These are mathematical structures that describe the properties of geometric shapes or figures in a way that is independent of any particular coordinate system.
2. Continuity and Convergence: These concepts deal with how well a function or sequence of points behaves when it is perturbed or moved around within a topological space.
3. Compactness: This is a property that describes how much of a space can be covered by a finite number of small sets.
4. Connectedness: This concept deals with the idea of how much of a space can be reached by a single continuous path, or how closely connected different parts of a space may be.
5. Separation: This concept deals with how well different parts of a space can be separated from one another, or how well one can distinguish between different geometric features.
6. Homotopy and Homology: These concepts lead into more advanced areas of topology that deal with understanding the shape or structure of spaces in a more detailed and abstract way.
7. Applications: Topology has applications in many areas of mathematics, physics, and engineering, such as in the study of fluid dynamics, the design of computer algorithms, and the analysis of complex network systems.
