The world's first game-based educational therapy programme for kids and teens with dyslexia. Why should learning be a drab affair, when it can be so much more?

Swords & Stationery is the world's FIRST educational therapy programme that uses tabletop games and the Orton-Gillingham method to help students with dyslexia. We help students find joy in learning, improve academically, learn social skills, and self-regulate their behaviours and emotions. Our site also features a blog that discusses education, special needs (such as dyslexia and ADHD), and gamifi

Halloween reflections πŸ‘»

Horror has always been a genre near and close to my heartβ€”I've always felt no other genre can be explored and mined as deeply for storytelling ideas.

As per tradition at Swords & Stationery, we ran a series of games for the kiddos chock full of jumpscares and tension. Even the bravest of students were constantly on edge.

What better way to wrap up the year for everyone! Also, who doesn't like free candy? 🍬🍭🍫

Super honoured to have presented at this year's Asian Festival of Children's Content on how dyslexics can learn better through games. Our humble workshop had a turnout of over 30 people, including local educators and overseas delegates. Very heartening to see smiles and laughter throughout the session, especially during the games (though it was a pity we did not get to finish our role-playing game).

Our sincerest thanks to our friends from Singapore Book Council for having us as a speaker and for making AFCC 2023 happen. 😊❀️

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Our sincerest thanks to all who attended our in-person charity auction last week and for making it happen! It was a fun time for all (I even got to LARP as an auctioneer lol).

We got $838, all of which will be donated to the Singapore Book Council to celebrate Dyslexia Awareness Month.

We still have some pending purchases from our own students and their parents, and I'll be topping up a bit more so that we can match the proceeds from our first auction from two years ago.

Hope to see you at our next auction in 2024! 🀩

Some fun observations in my nine years as an educational therapist:

Did you know that writing can be the strength of some dyslexics?

Did you also know that English can be their best subject in school?

(Yes, Jules Verne was believed to be dyslexic.)

Don't let the stereotypes fool you. πŸ˜†

🧝 Lamruil the elven trader is back to celebrate Dyslexia Awareness Month! 🀩

From the faraway lands of Keranak, Lamruil has managed to procure a huge stash of Games Workshop items that will be sold at cheap prices. These items include out-of-production model kits and games that are fantastic for collectors and gamers.

All proceeds will go to our friends at the Singapore Book Council, who continue to do fantastic work for the literary scene in Singapore. We know it sounds cliche, but one of the fastest ways to overcome dyslexia's challenges is to read more, and we're always thankful for the SBC's efforts in this area.

During our RPG session earlier, the party arrived at the evil villain's dungeon and found the place in utterly squalid condition, with 8-10 prisoners cramped in one single cell. I gave them full creative freedom to deal with the situation as they saw fit.

Unsurprisingly, they broke the prisoners out and started a prison riot lol.
