Baby Sensory is a multi-award winning UK programme which introduces parents and babies to a wide range of activities. It is specially designed for babies of age 0 months to 13 months old, providing an exciting and enjoyable environment in which parents share in developmental play with their baby and develop invaluable parenting skills. It is a magical world, full of glowing balls, light shows, pup
pets, bubbles, petals, rainbows, even an underwater experience of breathtaking imagination. Everything we do is backed by scientific research, carefully designed with your baby’s development in mind. We are also passionate about sharing our knowledge because the first year of your baby’s life is the most important. Soon after birth, the brain starts creating two million new connections every second! Each session you will learn:
The ‘how’ and the ‘why’. A careful explanation is given on the ‘how’ and ‘why’ each interaction enhances a baby’s learning and development. For example, we know that singing is important to a baby’s learning, but the ‘why’ and ‘how’ in development of language is also elaborated during the session. Recognizing the value of an activity means that parents are more likely to interact purposefully with the baby at home. Techniques that enhance bonding, reduce stress and aid sleep. For example:
• Hold babies indifferent ways.
• Stimulate them using a wide range of techniques and equipment.
• Communicate using music, speech, signing, sign and body language.
• Interact with your baby in a fun and purposeful way. Importance of attachment through bonding activities, which usually takes several months to develop. Some of these activities encompasses:
• Touch
• Massage
• Love
• Voice
• Eye Contact
• Body Language
Baby Sensory founder Dr. Lin Day (Dip. Ed, BSc, PGCE, M. Phil, PhD), has been working with babies and young children for over 30 years and through continuous research she has selected a range of activities which provide high quality learning experiences. As an example, we adopt Maria Montessori for Sensory Development, Jean Piaget for Early Learning, John Bowlby for Comfort Techniques, Mary Sheridan for Visual and General Development and Keller Pringle for Play as a prerequisite for mental growth. Upon graduation from Baby Sensory, parents have an option to sign their children up for our Toddler Sense programme.
-*-.-*-.-*-.Toddler Sense.-*-.-*-.-*. Toddler Sense is an activity programme, which introduces children aged 13 months to 3 years-old, to a whole new world of adventure after Baby Sensory. The activities are designed to keep toddlers and children busy, active, and stimulated by offering them a magical, multi-adventure experience in a safe and happy environment. At Toddler Sense, each week introduces fresh new ideas and an action-packed adventure. There is always something new and exciting to look forward to. Each week is based on a theme with specific activities that create a range of exciting adventures by producing a vast array of exciting, stimulating materials and equipment, many of them unique to the Toddler Sense programme. Classes include a wealth of soft play equipment, inflatable fun, gym equipment and lots more. The set-up is different each week. You need to see it to believe it! After each session, everyone buzzes with energy and enthusiasm having had a huge amount of fun. The end result is a great sense of well-being and achievement! The aims of Toddler Sense are:
• to promote a positive attitude to exercise
• to keep children mentally alert
• to develop imagination and creativity
• to promote social and emotional development
• to enhance language and communication skills
• to gain a basic understanding of mathematics
• to develop an understanding of the world in a fun and energetic way. Children join classes designed for their age and stage of development as follows:
• New Explorers (13 months - 20 months)
As toddlers grow and become more independent, they have a natural curiosity and appetite to explore. Toddler Sense gently introduces toddlers to equipment and activities that are suitable for their age and stage of development.
• Adventurers (20 months - 3 years)
Early adventures are an important part of a child’s journey of discovery, helping them to learn about themselves and the world around them. Toddler Sense offers a whole new world of adventure and challenge that lead learning and development forwards, and motivate children to try out new skills. Toddler Sense brings together sensory play, movement, and a repertoire of exciting, upbeat classical and cultural music as well as jazz, pop, rock, rhythmic sounds, and dance from different world cultures. All of the senses will be stimulated by the carnival-style activities such as the Conga crocodile, colourful ribbons, pom-poms and scarves, parachutes, bubbles plus lots more!
