When children help shape the rules, they learn to take ownership of their learning and their community. They begin to understand that their words, choices and actions matter. It’s more than an agreement; it’s a commitment to the kind of community they want to build together.

The HEI Curriculum is a play based, holistic curriculum inspired by the Finnish national early childhood education framework. It focuses on the whole child, supporting emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development together. Instead of teaching subjects in isolation, learning is phenomenon-based, meaning children explore real-life themes that connect different skills naturally. The curriculum places strong emphasis on transversal skills such as communication, creativity, critical thinking, empathy, and collaboration. Children are active participants in their learning, not passive recipients. The curriculum also values wellbeing, sustainability, cultural awareness, and inclusion. Every child is seen as unique and supported at their own pace.

At HEI Schools Singapore, we grow together through friendship and play as we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are together exploring, sharing ideas, negotiating, helping one another and simply enjoying each other’s company. Through everyday play and shared adventures, children build friendships, develop empathy and learn what it means to belong to a community. Growing with love at HEI Schools Singapore as we are preparing to celebrate Singapre National Day, the island we’re proud to call home.

At HEI Schools, children learn through play, exploration, and everyday experiences, guided by trained teachers. Learning is not limited to sitting at a table, it happens while children play, move, talk, create, and interact with others.

The curriculum follows the Finnish belief that children learn best when they feel safe, curious, and engaged. Teachers observe children closely and build learning around their interests and developmental stage. Skills like language, mathematics, problem-solving, and social skills are also woven into daily activities which makes learning meaningful and deeper.

Children are encouraged to ask questions, make choices, and try things for themselves. This approach helps children build confidence, independence, and a genuine love for learning that lasts well beyond early childhood.

As we prepare for Singapore’s National Day, our young explorers stepped into nature and discovered one of Singapore’s iconic birds the hornbill through outdoor storytelling and outdoor exploration. The joy of the story became even more real when they found a hornbill feather along the way. 🇸🇬🦜📚
