First in Asia, SMU's School of Accountancy introduced the specialised Master's degree in accounting data and analytics - Master of Science in Accounting (Data and Analytics) (MSA), designed for professionals who are interested in developing expertise in applying data technology into their domain knowledge to solve business problems. It complements the long-established Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) programme which provides an invaluable opportunity for non-finance professionals who are keen to develop their career in accounting and finance. Since its launch in 2006, the MPA programme is designed to create a pathway for graduates working or seeking to work in a field that requires specialized knowledge in accounting. It is Singapore’s most recognised graduate qualification in accounting with 11 accreditations from regulatory, professional and academic bodies. The programmes are taught by highly qualified SMU faculty as well as industry professionals, bringing a unique combination of academic rigour and first-hand industry knowledge. Our graduates have started new careers in professional accounting services, advanced their accounting and finance careers, and lead finance functions in their organizations both locally and overseas.

🎓 MPA Completion Dinner 2026

Just one day after completing their final examinations, our MPA students gathered with faculty and staff for the MPA Completion Dinner.

The evening was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the successful completion of their studies, reflect on the experiences and friendships built throughout the programme, and mark the end of an important chapter in their academic journey.

Over the past months, our students have demonstrated commitment, resilience, and a passion for learning, enriching our classrooms through thoughtful discussions, collaborative projects, and the sharing of diverse professional perspectives.

We would like to thank our faculty members for their support and dedication in shaping a rewarding learning experience for our students.

The SMU Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) programme has always been more than a degree—it is a community that continues to inspire, support, and uplift one another long after graduation. As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, we're excited to launch the 𝐌𝐏𝐀 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝, which will recognise exceptional alumni and support alumni initiatives such as networking, mentoring, lifelong learning, and community engagement.

We're raising S$50,000 to establish this Fund in perpetuity so future generations of MPA graduates can continue to benefit from a strong and connected community. Every contribution—big or small—helps create a lasting impact.

Recently, SMU School of Accountancy (SOA), with the support of SMU Thailand and SMU Vietnam, engaged students and faculty across Thailand and Vietnam through a series of masterclasses and discussions on the future of accounting and finance. Led by Prof Prasart Jongjaroenkamol, Senior Lecturer of Accounting and Director of the Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) programme, the sessions explored how data modelling, analytics, and emerging technologies are reshaping the profession and the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing business landscape.

These engagements reflect SOA's commitment to fostering regional collaboration, strengthening industry relevance, and building a vibrant community of learners, educators, and professionals across Southeast Asia. Together, we are shaping the next generation of accounting and finance leaders.

On 28 July 2026, the SMU School of Accountancy proudly celebrated the achievements of our Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) and Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) graduates at the Commencement Ceremony held on the SMU campus.

As our graduates embark on the next chapter of their professional journeys, they join a growing network of accounting and finance leaders who are ready to create meaningful impact in an ever-evolving global landscape.

To our graduates – congratulations on this remarkable achievement! We are incredibly proud of all that you have accomplished and look forward to witnessing your continued success and contributions to the profession.

This year, the SMU Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) Programme celebrates its 20th Anniversary, we are proud to give back to the community through a meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Organised by the SMU Accounting Masters Ambassador Committee (SAMAC), the event brought together faculty, students and staff to make a positive impact.

Headed by MPA SAMAC President Jyotika, this 2-day project was supported by MPA students and School of Accountancy Faculty, more than 20 volunteers packed 220 care packs on 8 July. Each pack consists of instant coffee, instant tea, sweets, soap, towels and a hand-written postcard designed by our very own student.

On 9 July afternoon, the MPA SAMAC, Professor Wang Jiwei (Associate Dean, Postgraduate Professional Programmes) and Professor Prasart Jongjaroenkamol (MPA Programme Director), delivered and distributed the 220 care packs, together with bento meals, drinks and fruits, to 220 construction workers at the Meyer Road construction site. This was our way of expressing our appreciation for their hard work and dedication in building the communities we live and work in.

A big thank you to all our MPA students, faculty and staff who volunteered their time and made this initiative possible. As we celebrate 20 years of the MPA programme, we remain committed to developing future leaders who not only excel professionally but also make a positive impact on the communities around them.

Three years into the audit field, Sidhesh possessed technical mastery. What he wanted next was the ability to guide digital transformation. 🚀

💼 Today, as an Assistant Manager at Deloitte he leads tax transformation initiatives across Southeast Asia.
