Celebrating Singapore through the timeless spirit of Xinyao! 🇸🇬

Intune Music Directors Peng Chi Sheng (C.S.Peng （冯启胜） ) Aaron Matthew Lim (林伟强) together with Intune Music Instructor SiaYeun Tay (郑夏韵) and Intune Music Students Suhritha, Rayden and Hayden, performed one of the most iconic Xinyao (新谣) songs by Dr. Liang Wern F**k (梁文福), 《细水长流》, at one of our public performances at the National Library in August 2026.

Titled “On Stage Today | Celebrate Singapore,” the performance was organised by the National Library as part of ArtsEverywhere@NLB — an initiative that brings arts experiences to communities where they live, work and play.

A heartfelt thank you to the National Library for hosting us and providing such a meaningful platform for local music. And to everyone who joined us that afternoon and sang along — thank you for making the performance even more special! ❤️

【We Left our Last Footprints in Winter Uluru】

I remember it was winter when we finally saw Uluru.
The wind was so cold.
The night was pitch dark.
I closed my eyes and
I could hear how bright the stars shone.

One step, two steps, we walked.
One step, two steps, we held our hands to keep warm.
Did we walk a hundred thousand steps? Or more?
The wind continued to blow.
We lay down to see the sky.
The clouds flew past so silently.

Little did I know, those were our last footprints together.

Runaway — Songs & Stories is an original music concert by Singaporean composer and pianist Peng Chi Sheng, bringing together works written across more than two decades of his creative journey.

A key highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of five newly composed piano works, written especially for this concert and performed publicly for the very first time.

Alongside these premieres are selected works from Chi Sheng’s Runaway Pianist catalogue and original songs written over the past decade and beyond.

Joining Chi Sheng on stage are guest artists Aaron Matthew Lim ( Aaron Lim 伟强老师 👨🏻‍🏫 ), Tony D**g (Tony D**g), and Robert Wesley Seng (Robert Wesley Seng).

Rayden, one of Intune Music’s singing students under the guidance of Intune Music instructor SiaYeun Tay 郑夏韵 , brought his own twist to the classic Xinyao song 《恋之憩》 during our public performance, On Stage Today | Xinyao 新谣 & Singapore Local Songs, at the National Library. 🎶🇸🇬

This performance was part of ArtsEverywhere@NLB, an initiative by the National Library Board that brings arts experiences closer to the communities where we live, work and play. Through the Celebrate Singapore! series, we were invited to discover, appreciate and celebrate the wonderful things that make us Singaporean.

A heartfelt thank you to the National Library Board for hosting us and providing such a meaningful platform for local music and young talents. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us that afternoon, sang along, and shared in the joy of Xinyao and Singapore’s local music! ❤️

A collection of original works inspired by different chapters of my life — music written for the piano, for the voice, and for the quiet moments in between.

Chi Sheng (冯启胜) is the Director and Music Producer of Intune Music, with over 25 years of experience in music education in Singapore. A songwriter and composer, his published works include Tony Leung (梁朝伟)‘s 《这次是真的》 and Maggie Teng (邓妙华)‘s 《时限》, among others.

On Saturday, 31 October, Chi Sheng will present his debut solo concert at The Arts House – Play Den. The evening will feature a heartfelt collection of his original music, from intimate solo piano pieces to songs performed with special guests, including vocalist Aaron Matthew Lim (林伟强) , violinist Tony D**g, and veteran musician Robert Wesley Seng

Suhritha, one of Intune Music’s promising pop singing students, under the guidance of Intune Music Instructor, Kwek Huan Cheng, took on the the challenge of performing a medley of 2 iconic Xinyao 新谣 songs, 《 晨的脚踪 》and 《 我们这一班 》 during one of our public performances at the National Library, accompanied live by Intune Music Director, Peng Chi Sheng (C.S.Peng （冯启胜）) on piano!

Performing a Mandarin classic is certainly a challenge for her, but Suhritha stepped up to the occasion with confidence, enthusiasm, and plenty of heart! Her expressive vocals, infectious energy, and confident stage presence lit up the stage, captivating the audience and keeping everyone engaged from beginning to end.

Well done, Suhritha! We’re incredibly proud of you for stepping beyond your comfort zone and embracing a new musical challenge. Keep exploring, keep growing, and most importantly, keep shining through your music!
