⭐️[FREE Webinar]- Getting your Child Ready for Secondary Science and Math💡🧬

🎉👏🏻Dear parents of students who have completed PSLE 2021. CONGRATULATIONS! Now that your child has successfully completed PSLE,

What's next? ⁇😧

➡️ Your child is waiting for the results, school selection and preparing for secondary school life. In the interim, many options may present and decisions have to be made.

🔥🔥🔥One of the most burning question our parents ask us is: Am I selecting the right option to future proof my child? 🔥🔥🔥

💡Do you know that current secondary school teachers say: Mere memorisation of the science textbook and math drills will not guarantee results?

Hello parents, I am Dr Tan Kok Siang 🙂. I was an industrial chemist for 12 years before moving into education. In the past 22 years, I have worked as a science teacher and science educator, helping to train and qualify school science teachers in Singapore. Having recently retired from academia where we have been researching and developing a variety of established and emerging pedagogical and assessment practice areas, S.T.E.M. / S.T.E.A.M. has been the most exciting for us!

👉🏻 You may have heard of and read about S.T.E.M. S.T.E.A.M., which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics, is actually S.T.E.M. with an affective context. This means that these S.T.E.A.M. subjects are learnt in an integrated and authentic manner, and with empathy. The teaching and learning approaches are experiential and authentic, linking the learner to their families, community, society, and the environment.

💡How is this relevant for my child in secondary school? Well, S.T.E.A.M. is the of main support of Industry 4.0, also known as the 4th Industrial Revolution. With this development, every part of our life is in one way, or another connected to a S.T.E.A.M. feature or practice. Just look around us, from food delivery, to e-commerce and e-transport related services, not the mention the current pandemic-related innovations, S.T.E.A.M. has it fingerprints, almost everywhere!

💡Hardwork is no longer enough for your child to excel in Science and Math in the new framework! As self-directed learners in a S.T.E.A.M. Learning environment, students are expected to make meaningful connections between what they know and what they need to know. Thus, they must be able to generate ideas and questions, identify possibilities and suggest alternatives when presented with problems to solve and tasks to complete. These are learning outcomes in the new and revised lower secondary science and math curriculum and are supportive of S.T.E.A.M. Learning approaches.

💡To excel in secondary school science/ math and even humanities, we will have to move from rote memorisation, content regurgitation to real-life application. That is why studying the textbook is not enough, a bridge must be created to link the textbook knowledge to application in the questions asked.

↪️Let us start by showing you how to establish that bridge.
