What looks like “dying” is actually part of growing 🌱
Last week our students learned about pollination—and got to try it themselves!
🌸 Using real lilies, they carefully transferred pollen grain during manual pollination and students get to observe what happened to the plant. Since fertilisation occurs after that, it makes the petals redundant as the flowers no longer need to attract pollinators... like bees or butterflies! 🐝
When the flowers showed signs of successful pollination, our students' excitement was priceless.
The petals may be falling, but it’s making seeds, completing its life cycle.
Through this hands-on experiment, students didn’t just hear about pollination; they saw it, did it, and understood it.

Earlier this week, one of our Primary 5 students came to SchoolWerks feeling stressed and defeated by their school Math worksheet.
Faced with a page full of problem sums, she grew increasingly anxious, repeating, “I don’t know how to do this.”
It’s a feeling many students can relate to—problem sums often cause them to freeze and stop thinking.
With gentle reassurance, the teacher guided her to slow down, read each phrase carefully, and draw the model. Within minutes, the model was complete, the question made sense, and she was able to work out the solution on her own.
The sense of achievement grew even stronger when she applied the same method to the next question and solved it independently.
By the end of the session, the student’s frustration had turned into confidence and relief because it was never about 'just getting the right answer'; it was about the shift in posture and the 'I actually get this' smile.
Today is about celebrating small wins that build toward meaningful progress.
