Most parents thought it's about not doing enough or the lack of practice.
The real struggle is them not comprehending or internalising the question. Most students rely heavily on patterns from past drill questions, without assessing each question independently. In today's PSLE context, this method is not going to help much!
👉 Struggling in Math isn’t random — there's a reason!
LEVEL 1 — “I don’t know how to do.”
Your child reads the problem sum…
looks at you… shrugs… and leaves it blank.
They don’t even know where to start.
LEVEL 2 — “I tried… but I’m stuck.”
They pick out keywords, draw a model…
but halfway through — they freeze.
Workings are there.
Answer is blank.
Results? Still hovering around 40–50%.
LEVEL 3 — “I thought I got it right…”
They can draw the full model.
They can link the information.
But the final answer is wrong. Again.
Marks don’t improve. Confidence slowly drops. Marks lost at the end of the day. The cycle repeats and it is hard to get out of it.
👉 Here’s the truth:
Most parents don't realised that it’s not just about practice and it’s not just about understanding the topic.
It’s about whether your child knows how to:
break down, process the information given, and solve unfamiliar problems independently
At Schoolwerks, we diagnose exactly which level your child is stuck at —
and more importantly, why they can’t move up.
Because each level requires a completely different fix!
Once the gap is corrected, students don’t just “get it” — they start solving with clarity and confidence.
📩 If your child sounds like any of these levels,
send us a message or DM us what you observe and we’ll certainly help you identify where they’re stuck and what to do next.
