“My example is correct... so why did I still lose marks?” 🤔
One common mistake in Chinese Comprehension is giving a life example that does not match the quality identified from the passage.
For example:
📖 Quality: Not afraid of hardship and hard work
❌ Example: Helping my mother with housework
The example may be positive, but it doesn’t clearly show perseverance or resilience.
Instead, your example should directly reflect the quality you want to learn.
✅ Quality: Not afraid of hardship and hard work
✅ Example: Studying and revising consistently every day despite challenges
Remember: Your example and the quality must correspond!

Always using “友好” to describe someone? 👀
Try these words instead:
✔️ 友善 — kind and friendly
✔️ 平易近人 — easy to get along with
✔️ 乐于助人 — willing to help others
✔️ 亲切 — warm and welcoming
Different words help students describe a person’s personality more accurately and make their writing more vivid ✨
The next time you’re writing a composition, don’t just say someone is “friendly”, show it through their character traits 💡

⏳ Only 9 Weeks to PSLE Chinese Oral
9 weeks may sound like a long time.
But when you factor in school, homework, CCA, family commitments and weekends, there are very few opportunities left for your child to build confidence for Oral.
And Oral is not something students can improve overnight.
It takes time to:
🗣️ Learn how to structure answers
🗣️ Expand ideas confidently
🗣️ Respond naturally under pressure
If your child is still:
❌ Giving short answers
❌ Struggling to elaborate
❌ Saying “I don’t know what to say”
Now is the time to start.
The earlier they begin, the more time they have to develop the skills and confidence needed for PSLE Chinese Oral.
🚨 Don’t wait until Oral is only a few weeks away.

WA results are back. 📄
If your child‘s Chinese results weren’t quite what you hoped for, don‘t focus only on the score.
Instead, ask:
❓ Where are the marks being lost?
❓ Is it Oral, Composition, Comprehension, or Vocabulary?
❓ What can be improved before the next assessment?
