Hi everyone! We are RE:LIVE, I’dECO’s recycling project. Considering the large number of users of contact lenses and Nespresso coffee drinkers on campus, we are organising regular collections of 1) contact lens blisters and 2) Nespresso pods for collection and recycling. The recyclables will be sent to Two Of A Kind (a contact lens company in Singapore), and Nespresso respectively.

We have put up 3 collection points in each RC (refer to photos below):

Saga: Tower A lobby (Outside level 1 faculty offices)
Elm: Elm patio (Next to Elm buttery)
Cendana: Tower B lobby (Next to foosball table)

Please rinse your recyclables first and ensure that they are dried and cleaned before you deposit your recyclables into the boxes provided. This is to prevent cross-contamination and any mold from growing.

We will be clearing the recyclables every week, and the last day of collection will be on 4th December 2020 (Friday).

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to either Grace (tag Grace) or Jermayne (tag Jermayne).

Until November 30th, Sport Singapore will be collecting used sports shoes for recycling into sports infrastructure including jogging tracks and playgrounds! There are 2 collection points in NUS, one outside Foodclique (see picture below) and at University Sports Centre. Do bring your old unwanted sports shoes along the next time you make a trip to U town and drop them in either one of these convenient bins.

Need to declutter your room at the end of semester? Want to play a part in saving the environment? Come down to Elm Walkway from 4-7 on 6th December to give away your recyclable waste. Recyclable materials include plastic, paper, metal, glass and clothes. Make sure that the items are thoroughly cleaned of any contaminants and sorted in advance according to material type. Common recyclables include plastic bottles, toilet paper rolls, glass bottles/jars and cartons.

Collected items will be passed on to Tzu Chi, a non-profit organisation that promotes environmental protection amongst various other social causes.
