Learn Burmese was started in 2013 by Shaun Cheng. With his Yangon-born partner since 2007, learning the language was a natural progression. Despite the numerous private language schools in Singapore, few of them offered Myanmar/ Burmese language classes and even one that did, kept shutting down classes at the last minute due to “insufficient” students. The repeated frustration led to the decision
to organise proper Burmese classes for like-minded individuals with a keen interest in learning picking up this unique language from a country that has only recently begun to open up to the world. Thus LearnBurmese was born. Learners can expect to pick up essential “survival” language fundamentals such as ordering food in a restaurant, hailing a taxi, as well as “social” language needed for getting to know people and making friends. Intermediate, business and advanced learners can look forward honing sentence construction in questions and answers over a variety of subjects and picking up theme-specific vocabulary. Last but not least, you will find that Burmese is a much easier language to learn than many people think. So, why not give it a shot?
