The Ascension Kindergarten

4 months later...

We are finally back to our school building. The gleeful smiles, the busy chatters and faces in awe when the children walked into their classrooms.

We are very excited to share some updates with you! Everything is coming together and we can't wait for our students to come back!

Here are some updates on the progress of our school! We can't wait to have our students move back.

"Oh no, the bikes are broken." The Pre-Nurseries were concern about the damaged tricycle seats. When Uncle Huat came to replace the seats, they were all curious and crowding around him to see how Uncle does the job. "I want to help!" When the job is done, they tested the bikes and went "I can go so fast."

Over the weekend, Church of the Ascension organised a Teachers' appreciation brunch for Little Seeds Preschool (Ascension) and The Ascension Kindergarten. Rev Ian shared a beautiful word from Micah 6:8 to encourage us to act justly, to love mercy and walk humbly with God. We like to thank all our teachers who have poured their hearts and souls in nurturing our young children. May all our children continue to blossom under the guidance of our teachers. Blessed Teachers' Day!

Our recent Family Day event brought together our children, families and friends. It started off with a welcome assembly where we sang and danced together as a huge family in the school hall.

Our children had a blast at our indoor gym, face painting activity and photo booth. Parents were excited to discover “old school” toys and AK memorabilia, and other learning resources in our jumble sale. Our food stations were a hit with highlights such as our popcorn booth, ice-cream man, and not forgetting lots of finger food and drinks too!

It was a time of laughter and tears of joy as old friends and alumni reunited and reminisced the good ol’ days in The Ascension Kindergarten. There were also sections where everyone could pen down their thoughts, prayers, hopes and dreams for the school.

We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to be with us. You have made this chapter of our Ascension Legacy an unforgettable one.

Behind all the photos that you saw during our recent Family Day event was a heart of a father. Some of you may have met him that day too.

When he heard about the news of the pivot, he reached out to us and volunteered to help us document the last few moments of our school as we know it.

While we know that The Ascension Kindergarten holds a special place in our hearts, it is through moments like these where the impact feels so tangible.

We are thankful and truly grateful for sending us parents who love the school as much as we do.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, let’s take the time to appreciate and affirm the mothers in our midst.

Did you know that The Ascension Kindergarten was called St Andrew's Kindergarten in the 60s? In 1975, we became known as The Ascension Kindergarten.

Throughout the decades, we have influenced and nurtured thousands of children. We are immensely proud and honoured to be part of this incredible journey and legacy.

With the changing landscape of the early childhood sector, The Ascension Kindergarten has to reinvent itself and innovate to ensure that all our children will continue to have a wonderful preschool experience. In June 2023, we will be renovating our school premise as we shift to a childcare model.

Before we bid a fond "goodbye" to The Ascension Kindergarten, we would like to invite everyone who has been a part of our Ascension family to come back to visit our school again.

Join us as we remember and celebrate the Ascension heritage and memories that we all hold so dearly to our hearts.

May we always be the light of Potong Pasir -- a school on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14). May we always serve as a beacon of hope to our children and families.

A new chapter awaits The Ascension Kindergarten!

Last Thursday, we celebrated the Malay Heritage to bring awareness about the Muslim community celebrating Hari Raya Puasa on Saturday.

Our children came dressed in their traditional Malay costumes and had a celebration in the hall. Through a skit done by the teachers, they learnt some simple malay greetings, the different malay delicacies, and did a malay dance titled “Chan Mali Chan”!

Everybody is a Superhero! At The Ascension Kindergarten, we ended Term 1 by celebrating all the positive traits and talents that God has granted to each one of us. We were treated to an awesome skit by our teachers titled, “Giraffes can’t dance”, and a beautiful performance by our K2s, followed by fun and games in our classrooms!

Let’s continue to support our children in their journey of confidence and empower them with the knowledge that the traits they have are precious.
