Students from Riverside Secondary School got a taste of engineering IRL on 20 May 2026!

They explored “Rocket Science in Action” 🚀 through exciting hands-on activities, where actual science felt like TikTok-worthy experiments. They also became scan detectives 🩻 at the “Medical Imaging” workshop, discovering how different parts of the body are viewed through images.

Final year Diploma in Aviation Management (AMS) students, Ching Rui Ming, Ily Sofea, and Rezekyrullah, had the honour to present their project on “Next-Gen Aviation Outreach: From Research to Reality” to Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore Director-General, Mr Han Kok Juan and its Director (Aviation Industry), Ms Angela Ng, on 6 May 2026.

Next up, the Singapore Mission to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) will be presenting the project to the ICAO Secretary-General.

Immensely proud of our AMS students and their passion in helping to get youths excited about Aviation!

In 1996, a dating couple both graduated with a Diploma in Electronics* at TP. They got married soon after.

Fast forward 30 years, their twin boys return as medal-winning graduates from the Diploma in Mechatronics and Diploma in Computer Engineering.

A eye-opening experience at IME!

To raise our students' awareness about the job prospects in the microelectronics sector and give them an insight into how theories taught in the classroom are applied in the real world, about 50 Year 2 students from the Diploma in Electronics* visited the Institute of Microelectronics (IME), a research institute under A*STAR, on 8 May 2026.

Pulling on smocks, they visited the cleanroom to observe semiconductor chips being made, and learnt about assembly technology and failure analysis & reliability.

The visit was part of regular Learning Journeys to ensure our students are industry -ready upon graduation.

More than a thousand graduands from our 10 diploma programmes received their scrolls at our Graduation ceremonies on 5 & 6 May 2026.

For final-year Diploma in Integrated Facility Management student Stanley Hoe, who did his internship (Oct 2025 – Feb 2026) at Hong Kong Disneyland, what started with confusion, culture shock, and a whole lot of “Wait… What did they just say?” (yes, many Hong Kongers speak only Cantonese), turned out to be an exhilarating and eye-opening experience!

From struggling to communicate to being overwhelmed in a fast-paced resort environment packed with demanding holiday-makers and fun-seekers , it was a practical lesson in adapting, connecting, problem-solving, and prioritising.

More than just an award, it reflects the strong and growing partnership between TP School of Engineering and TPSS.

It was especially meaningful to see familiar faces -- former TPSS students who are now thriving in our School of Engineering -- Johannes & Kai Jun (Diploma in Aerospace Engineering), and Firdhaus (Diploma in Electronics) (left to right in bottom photo).
