NETBALL DAD #002 – The Car Ride Home 🚗🏐

The final whistle has gone.
The coach has finished.
The players are tired.
But David? David is just getting started. 😂

Why waste a perfectly good car ride when you can analyse every pass, turnover and decision from the last four quarters?
After all, David had the best view of the game… from behind the goalpost.

A little reminder for all of us sports parents: sometimes the best post-match analysis is simply:
“I loved watching you play.” ❤️
Then let them enjoy the ride home.

🏐 TNA U9 Development League – Growing Through the Tough Games 🏐

Not every game ends with smiles and a win, and that’s part of learning to play sport.

Our 8-year-old SGNA players are competing in the TNA U9 Development League, where they regularly come up against older, bigger and more experienced players.

That can be tough. But it is also exactly where development happens.

Every difficult pass, every lost ball, every goal conceded and every moment when things don’t go their way gives our young players an opportunity to learn.

They learn to keep trying when the game is difficult.
They learn to support their teammates.
They learn to stay focused when they are behind.
And most importantly, they learn that losing a game is not the same as failing.

We could always look for easier games. But easy games don’t necessarily create stronger players.

At SGNA, we want our young players to experience challenges, make mistakes, learn from them and discover that they can come back and try again.

Because at eight years old, the most important result isn’t on the scoreboard.

It’s the player who walks off the court a little stronger than when she walked on. ❤️🏐

Tough today. Stronger tomorrow.

U8 Development League Recap — August 16th at RGPS 🏐

August 16th brought the best vibes. Our U8s on court bringing the energy. Parents on the sidelines bringing the cheers and that’s the SGNA community right there, families supporting each other, players learning and growing together, and everyone having the best time.

This is what development looks like. 💛❤️

We are incredibly proud of Coach Mee Hong and our former SGNA players Norah and Charlotte, who were part of the Singapore Vandas team that became Asian Netball Champions! 🇸🇬🏆

Their achievement represents something very special to us at SGNA. It shows our young players that there is a pathway from SGNA all the way to representing Singapore on the international stage.

Coach Mee Hong has been a consistent and important part of Norah and Charlotte’s development over the years, helping guide them as young players on their journey towards the national team.

And today, we couldn’t be prouder to see all three of them together representing Singapore at the highest level.

From SGNA courts to the Singapore Vandas, dreams can become pathways, and pathways can become reality. ❤️💛🇸🇬

We are especially proud to have Coach Mee Hong still going strong and continuing to contribute to both Singapore netball and the next generation of SGNA players. 🏐

SGNA U12 3v3 Internal League
15–17 March 2021

As 2021 began, COVID-19 restrictions were still very much part of everyday life, including netball. With limits on the number of players allowed on court, we adapted and created opportunities for our players to keep playing the sport they loved.

From 15 to 17 March 2021, we organised the SGNA U12 3v3 Internal League, one of our first events of the year. Although the format was different, the excitement of competition was exactly the same.

It was heartwarming to see our players back on court again. Smiles returned, friendships were strengthened, and everyone embraced the challenge of playing 3-a-side netball. With fewer players on court, every athlete had more touches on the ball, more space to move, and more responsibility, creating a unique learning experience for everyone involved.

This was one of several 3v3 competitions we organised and participated in throughout 2021, proving once again that challenges inspire creativity. Even during difficult times, our players continued to develop, compete, and most importantly, enjoy the game.

As we look back, these moments remind us that resilience is built not only by winning, but by finding ways to keep moving forward. We hoped that 2022 would finally bring the return of normal netball, and thankfully, it did.
