Our transport workers are there to look after us. Let’s look after them too.
Every day, our transport workers go to work with one responsibility, to get commuters safely to where they need to be. They should never have to fear being assaulted or abused while doing their jobs.
NTWU is aware of a case involving the physical assault of a Go-Ahead Singapore Bus Captain on 16 August 2026, while he was carrying out his duties on Service 2.
An NTWU representative accompanied the Bus Captain to Changi General Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Thankfully, his injuries were not serious, and with the support of Go-Ahead Singapore, a police report has been lodged.
Behind every uniform is a person with family and loved ones waiting for them to come home safely. Our Bus Captains work long hours, navigate busy roads and serve thousands of commuters every day. Violence and abuse should never be accepted as “part of the job”.
NTWU and Go-Ahead Singapore stand firmly with our transport workers, and we will continue to support the affected Bus Captain.
