Together We Will Succeed Juying Secondary School was founded in 1995 with the appointment of Mrs Lee Yin Ling as its pioneer principal.

The school started with 10 classes of Secondary One pupils which were housed on the 4th level of Pioneer Secondary School, our holding school, for six months while the former Jurong Institute was being retrofitted to become Juying's permanent premises. When the school moved into its permanent premises on 12 June 1995, only three quarters of the retrofitting had been completed. The following two an

✨ Strengthening Bonds, Creating Memories! ✨

What a fantastic way to wrap up Term 2! Our annual signature event, the JYSS Family Bonding Day, was an absolute blast! 🥳🎉

In close partnership with our amazing Juying Parent Support Group (JPSG) EXCO, we designed an afternoon filled with laughter, learning and meaningful connections. This event is a huge part of our commitment to enhancing home-school partnerships—because nurturing future-ready JYians takes a village! ❤️🏫

Here’s a quick look at what went on that day:

📢 Purposeful Sharing: Parents tuned in to learn more about our school’s vision for student learning and purposeful partnerships.

🎨 Creativity Unlocked: Families got hands-on crafting beautiful mini mosaic art together.

🏃‍♂️ Station Games: Friendly parent-child teamwork (and at times, competition) that brought out the biggest smiles!

It was incredible to see our JYSS community grow stronger as parents connected with the school and with one another. Thank you to all the families who joined us to make this day so special, enjoyable and memorable!

Let’s keep working together to support our JYians! 💪🌟

🎼 *A Milestone Musical Experience for our Secondary 2s!* 🎻✨
In May, our Secondary 2 cohort stepped out of the classroom and into the stunning Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concert Hall for a spectacular live performance of "Our Singapore Songbook" by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra! 🇸🇬🎵 For many of our students, this was their very first time experiencing a live, professional orchestral performance! 🙌

As part of their Performing Arts-Based Learning (PABL) - a collaboration between MOE and the National Arts Council (NAC) - this experience brought their classroom music lessons to life. The orchestra performed a beautiful selection of iconic Singapore songs that together showcase and celebrate the richness of Singapore's multi-cultural identity.
We are so proud of how our lower secondary students engaged with the arts and embraced our shared culture. Here's to more inspiring musical learning journeys!

🌊 Nature Nurtures | Session 3: Coastal Clean-Up & Mudflat Habitats 🦀

The beach had some wild surprises in store for our students this session, and we’re not just talking about the wildlife! 👀

Through a coastal clean-up simulation, students explored the impact of marine debris on our environment. Beyond common litter like straws, plastic bottles, and food wrappers, they uncovered shocking items such as a television, refrigerator, kitchen sink, boat parts, used syringes, and even remote controls. 😱

The session also highlighted the real consequences of littering. Mr Kua, a volunteer with NParks, shared how trash once prevented a nesting turtle from laying her eggs. Students were also confronted with disturbing examples of plastic pollution affecting marine life, reminding us that every piece of litter has an impact.

Students then sorted real waste collected by NParks volunteers into categories such as food wrappers, drink bottles, plastic containers, and foam. One clear “winner” emerged — food plastic wrappers, especially 3-in-1 coffee sachets! ☕😄

The session ended with a deeper look into mudflat habitats and the fascinating creatures that call them home. Students learnt that horseshoe crabs have 10 eyes, use their legs to chew food, and that male horseshoe crabs help gather sand to protect their eggs.

A meaningful session that deepened our students’ appreciation for Singapore’s coastal ecosystems and strengthened their commitment to protecting the environment. 💙

On 19 May 2026, our Secondary 3 JYians had an enriching experience learning about Elevator Pitching. This was their first programme as part of Juying Secondary School’s Term 2 JoYful Week of exciting activities for students. Through the 6-hour Elevator Pitch workshop, JYians were guided through the process of unpacking and understanding societal issues, collaboratively brainstorming creative solutions for the issues before preparing a persuasive pitch of their ideas to their instructors and peers. In Juying, we believe that such opportunities have real-life applications especially because our students will one day use these adaptive oracy skills like pitching in interviews for institutions of higher learning or even for their future careers! We continue to look forward to the holistic development of our gracious JYians!

Our Juying flag flew high this morning as our JYians proudly represented the school at the Secondary School Fair held at Frontier Community Centre. Dressed smartly in their school blazers, our student ambassadors engaged prospective P6 students and parents with confidence, warmth and pride, sharing passionately about our caring learning culture, enriching IP programme, vibrant CCAs, strong positive Teacher-Student Relationships (TSR), and the many leadership opportunities available at JYSS.

Guided by Mr Dayan and Mdm Wahidah, our students truly embodied the spirit and values of a JYian. Beyond the designated ambassadors, it was heartening to see all the JYians present stepping forward to play their part in engaging members of the public, prospective families, and even MP for Pioneer Division, Mr Patrick Tay, with enthusiasm and authenticity.

A big thank you to our Principal Mr Ang for being a strong pillar of support and encouragement to the team as always. Your presence meant a lot to our students and staff.

Most importantly, thank you to our JYians for doing us proud this morning, demonstrating strong school pride, dedication, poise and heart in every conversation and interaction.

Well done, JYians! ❤️
