Our Secondary 4 and 5 students gained valuable insights into the National Service (NS) journey through an engaging NS Talk on 23 July.

CCHY alumnus LTA (NS) Brandon Tan, an Air Warfare Officer (Air Defence Weapon) and former Team Commander of RSAF 160 Squadron, shared his experiences as a full-time National Serviceman. Our own CCHY teacher, CPT (NS) Andy Neo, S1 of 804 Singapore Infantry Regiment, spoke about the journey of an Operationally Ready National Serviceman and balancing NS with civilian life.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, inspiring our students to approach National Service with greater awareness, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility towards Singapore.

On 23 July, we had the pleasure of welcoming Yaar Panj-abb Phangra (Singapore) for a vibrant cultural assembly.

Through an engaging presentation and energetic traditional Indian dance performances, students gained a deeper appreciation of India’s rich cultural heritage. The lively atmosphere encouraged enthusiastic participation, with teachers and many students eagerly joining the performers on stage and experiencing the joy of Bhangra firsthand.

More than just a performance, the assembly provided students with an opportunity to learn about and celebrate the cultural diversity that makes Singapore unique. It was a meaningful reminder that understanding different cultures begins with curiosity, participation, and shared experiences.

Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) commemorated Drug Victims Remembrance Day throughout May 2026 through a series of meaningful activities that reinforced the importance of leading a drug-free life. The theme for this year is, “Stories, Unfinished”.

The commemoration began with a school assembly, followed by reflective classroom discussions during Class Connection Time, where students explored the impact of drug abuse on individuals, families and society. Our students also organised an engaging DrugFreeSG information booth, raising awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and emerging drug trends through interactive peer outreach.

Together, these activities reminded us that every choice matters in building a safe, caring and drug-free community.

Selected students from the Journalism and Multimedia Club recently collaborated with Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School (RCYPS) as part of the Learning for Life (Photography) Programme 📸✨

Over the course of six sessions in Term 2, our CCHY students worked closely with RCYPS students on learning how to use DSLR cameras to capture the beauty and details of the world around them, even at the little things we often overlook in our everyday lives.

Beyond photography skills, the programme also created many heartwarming moments as students from both schools interacted, communicated and learnt alongside one another. It was encouraging to see new friendships formed through creativity, teamwork and shared experiences.

The students’ photographs were eventually featured in a showcase held on 19 May, celebrating their growth, effort and journey as young photographers. School leaders from both schools were also present to recognise and celebrate the students’ achievements.

On 13 and 15 May, our Secondary 3 students stepped into the world of policymaking through the Learning Beyond Classroom (LBC) Humanities Programme's Modified Parliamentary Dialogue.

The debate chamber came alive as students discussed contemporary issues that matter to them ranging from the role of AI in everyday life and mobile phone restrictions in schools to whether Singapore should adopt a Central Kitchen Model for school meals.

Beyond debating, students learnt to think critically, communicate respectfully, support their views with evidence, and appreciate the complexities behind decisions that shape society.

The atmosphere was electric, especially during the crossfire rounds, where quick thinking, sharp questioning and confident rebuttals kept everyone on their toes.

The programme concluded with an exciting prize presentation, recognising outstanding speakers, teamwork and class spirit. A meaningful experience that empowered our students to become informed, thoughtful and engaged citizens of tomorrow.

Held on 13 and 15 May 2026, the 4th edition of Chung Cheng Model United Nations (CCMUN), organised by Chung Cheng High School - Main, provided an enriching platform for students to engage with global issues through diplomacy, collaboration and critical thinking.

Representing CCHY, Arika (4F), Zachary (4B), Kyra (4A), Ming Xuan (4A), Kheng Hean (4A) and Janessa (4E) immersed themselves in rigorous committee debates, negotiated resolutions and worked alongside fellow delegates to address real-world challenges.

We are proud to celebrate Kyra and Kheng Hean, who were awarded Honourable Mention for their outstanding performances and meaningful contributions during committee discussions. Congratulations to all our delegates for representing CCHY with confidence, poise and excellence! 🌍🎖️
