When online exams are conducted through a web browser, one of the biggest challenges for educators and businesses is preventing candidates from switching tabs or accessing outside resources. Not only does this undermine fairness, but it can also make test results less reflective of a candidate’s actual abilities.

To provide a fairer testing experience and help organizations assess learners’ proficiency more transparently, PREP has officially upgraded its anti-cheating capabilities through its new desktop app.

So, how is PREP's Desktop App different from a web browser exam? It comes with a 4-layer security system designed to prevent cheating:

🔒 Full-Screen Lock: Test-takers must remain in full-screen mode throughout the entire exam.
🚫 Screen Capture & Recording Block: Screenshots and screen recordings are disabled to protect exam content from being copied or shared.
🤖 Prohibited Software Detection: The system automatically detects and blocks remote-control tools, AI assistants, messaging apps, and other unauthorized software.
💻 Multi-Monitor Restrictions: Split-screen and multi-display setups are restricted to prevent test-takers from accessing multiple browsers or external resources during the exam.

💡New update: No more “lost connection, lost answers”!
Even when the Internet connection drops, the desktop app securely saves the test-taker’s progress offline. Once the connection is restored, they can continue the exam right where they left off.

Meet Lê Phương Thảo (born in 2001) – an International Economics graduate currently pursuing a second degree in English. With a clear goal of pursuing a Master's degree in TESOL, Thảo dedicated herself to three months of highly disciplined practice and achieved an impressive overall IELTS score of 8.0!

Thảo's golden rule was never to tackle all four skills in a single day. By limiting herself to a maximum of one or two skills per day, she stayed focused and made steady progress. Here's how she leveled up:

Struggling to hit your target band in IELTS Writing Task 1? Mastering this section isn't just about describing numbers, it's about strategy and precision.

Here are 6 golden rules for IELTS Writing Task 1:
🔍 Pinpoint the task type immediately: Before writing a single word, identify exactly what you’re dealing with: a line graph, a process diagram, a map, or a mixed chart. Your entire structural approach depends on this crucial first step.

⚖️ Stay strictly objective: Task 1 is purely a factual report. Leave your personal opinions, assumptions, and biases at the door.

💬 Maintain a formal tone: Avoid personal pronouns like "I," "we," or "you." Keep your perspective entirely in the third person to ensure objectivity.

👔 Keep it professional & unemotional: Steer clear of emotive language (e.g., instead of saying figures dropped "terribly," use "significantly"). Additionally, completely avoid contractions - always write "do not" instead of "don't.
