Happy birthday to Frankie Manning and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson! Two pioneers who shaped Lindy and Tap in the most influential ways!

Frankie is celebrated as the "Ambassador of Lindy Hop" who was the one to give Lindy its athletic shape and creator of the first air step. He was the chief choreographer for Whiteys Lindy Hoppers and was the driving force behind helping to bring Lindy to the forefront of the swing dances in the 1980s. Always welcoming with a big smile and an iconic laugh, he would share his knowledge generously.

Bill Robinson is credited to elevating tap with a lighter, more precise swinging rhythm. He invented and perfected the complex routine if tapping up and down a flight of stairs. He was also the first Black performer to star in both a Hollywood film as well as a Briadwat production, known also for being the highest paid and most prominent black performer in the 20th century.

Every year, Lindy hoppers and tappers across the globe celebrate on these legendary giant's birthdays and remember they joy they have brought to the world! This year, we had cake, a couple of performances inspired/created by the legends, danced to our heart's content and even had a lucky draw with drum rolls provided by the tappers!

Come along to enjoy our party and celebrate all the elders that left us this amazing legacy we enjoy.

There will be a Tap performance and a Lindy Chorus for everyone to join in!

And to celebrate our own “elders” we invite all Lindy Hoppers in Singapore to come along for Homecoming! Even if you haven’t danced for a long time, just come say hi and chat with the new dancers. Free entry if you started more than 10 years ago!!

These classes will prepare you for the performance and will make sure you swingouts are as sharp as your outfits.

Helmed by Hon Yee, the TTS sessions have proven to take your dance skills to the next level, as you hone your craft under watchful eyes.
