In PSLE Maths, some questions are not difficult because the concept is new.

They are difficult because the child cannot see the structure of the problem clearly.

This is especially true for the PSLE killer topics:

๐Ÿ‘‰Patterns
๐Ÿ‘‰Area & Perimeter

These questions often appear in Paper 2 and can easily cost students valuable marks โ€” sometimes making the difference between an AL1 / AL2 and a lower grade.

๐“๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐›๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ:
Many students keep doing more and more practice questions, but still struggle when the question is presented in a new or unfamiliar way.

๐–๐ก๐ฒ?
Because they are not taught the right spatial visualisation techniques to โ€œseeโ€ the problems clearly.

That is exactly what we will train in this June Holiday Spatial Visualisations workshop.

Happy Motherโ€™s Day to All Amazing Mummies! ๐Ÿ’

Behind every childโ€™s learning journey, there is often a mother quietly encouraging, guiding, reminding, and believing.

From checking homework, arranging lessons, preparing for exams, to giving words of comfort when Maths feels difficult โ€” your love and support make a bigger difference than you may realise.

At Maths Heuristics, we see how much parents care about helping their children build confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills. Today, we celebrate all mothers who continue to give so much for their childrenโ€™s future.

Wishing all mummies a very Happy Motherโ€™s Day.
May your day be filled with love, appreciation, and meaningful moments with your family. โค๏ธ

PSLE Checkpoint Workshop in progress! ๐Ÿ“šโฑ๏ธ

Despite the Labour Day public holiday, our little warriors are here โ€” focused, disciplined, and giving their best in a timed PSLE practice setting.

This is where we help pupils check their readiness, identify gaps, and build the confidence needed for the final PSLE stretch.

Well done to every child who chose progress today. ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒŸ

Many children can โ€œdo a paperโ€, get a score, and still not know ๐ฐ๐ก๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ.

At our PSLE Maths Checkpoint Workshop, we go beyond marking answers.

Each childโ€™s Paper 2 performance is reviewed to identify:

โœ… Whether they can understand multi-step questions
โœ… Whether they can choose the right problem-solving method
โœ… Whether they struggle with model drawing, working backwards, patterns or spatial visualisation
โœ… Whether marks were lost due to careless mistakes, weak concepts, or poor question interpretation

Parents will receive a diagnostic report that shows not just the score, but the childโ€™s ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐›๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ-๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐’๐‹๐„ ๐Œ๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ ๐๐š๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ.

Because PSLE preparation is not just about doing more papers.
It is about knowing ๐ฐ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฑ ๐ง๐ž๐ฑ๐ญ.

โ€œSince the new PSLE Maths Paper 2 has fewer questions, does it mean challenging questions are now less emphasised?โ€

From 2026, Paper 2 has 2 fewer long-answer questions, but this is mainly because some syllabus content, such as Speed and Turns / 8-point Compass, has been removed.

So the reduction in questions is not to make the paper easier. It is to better align the exam format with the revised syllabus.

The overall PSLE Maths exam is still 100 marks and 2 hours 30 minutes.

Students still need strong concepts, clear reasoning, accurate application, and good problem-solving skills.

Many students are already doing practice papers.

But results donโ€™t improve.

Why?

Because:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Practice without feedback = limited progress

What makes the difference:
โœ” Knowing why mistakes happen
โœ” Learning the correct approach
โœ” Fixing thinking gaps

Thatโ€™s where structured review + diagnostic matters.

๐ŸŽฏ This is what we focus on.
