In PSLE Maths, some questions are not difficult because the concept is new.
They are difficult because the child cannot see the structure of the problem clearly.
This is especially true for the PSLE killer topics:
๐Patterns
๐Area & Perimeter
These questions often appear in Paper 2 and can easily cost students valuable marks โ sometimes making the difference between an AL1 / AL2 and a lower grade.
๐๐ก๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ:
Many students keep doing more and more practice questions, but still struggle when the question is presented in a new or unfamiliar way.
๐๐ก๐ฒ?
Because they are not taught the right spatial visualisation techniques to โseeโ the problems clearly.
That is exactly what we will train in this June Holiday Spatial Visualisations workshop.
See hidden composite shapes and patterns clearly
โ
Break down Area & Perimeter questions step by step
โ
Recognise common PSLE pattern structures
โ
Apply proper heuristics instead of guessing blindly

Happy Motherโs Day to All Amazing Mummies! ๐
Behind every childโs learning journey, there is often a mother quietly encouraging, guiding, reminding, and believing.
From checking homework, arranging lessons, preparing for exams, to giving words of comfort when Maths feels difficult โ your love and support make a bigger difference than you may realise.
At Maths Heuristics, we see how much parents care about helping their children build confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills. Today, we celebrate all mothers who continue to give so much for their childrenโs future.
Wishing all mummies a very Happy Motherโs Day.
May your day be filled with love, appreciation, and meaningful moments with your family. โค๏ธ

PSLE Checkpoint Workshop in progress! ๐โฑ๏ธ
Despite the Labour Day public holiday, our little warriors are here โ focused, disciplined, and giving their best in a timed PSLE practice setting.
This is where we help pupils check their readiness, identify gaps, and build the confidence needed for the final PSLE stretch.
Well done to every child who chose progress today. ๐ช๐

Many children can โdo a paperโ, get a score, and still not know ๐ฐ๐ก๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ.
At our PSLE Maths Checkpoint Workshop, we go beyond marking answers.
Each childโs Paper 2 performance is reviewed to identify:
โ
Whether they can understand multi-step questions
โ
Whether they can choose the right problem-solving method
โ
Whether they struggle with model drawing, working backwards, patterns or spatial visualisation
โ
Whether marks were lost due to careless mistakes, weak concepts, or poor question interpretation
Parents will receive a diagnostic report that shows not just the score, but the childโs ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ-๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ ๐.
Because PSLE preparation is not just about doing more papers.
It is about knowing ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ข๐ฑ ๐ง๐๐ฑ๐ญ.
Donโt leave it to chance.

โSince the new PSLE Maths Paper 2 has fewer questions, does it mean challenging questions are now less emphasised?โ
๐ข๐๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ: ๐ก๐ผ โ
From 2026, Paper 2 has 2 fewer long-answer questions, but this is mainly because some syllabus content, such as Speed and Turns / 8-point Compass, has been removed.
So the reduction in questions is not to make the paper easier. It is to better align the exam format with the revised syllabus.
The overall PSLE Maths exam is still 100 marks and 2 hours 30 minutes.
Students still need strong concepts, clear reasoning, accurate application, and good problem-solving skills.

Many students are already doing practice papers.
But results donโt improve.
Why?
Because:
๐ Practice without feedback = limited progress
What makes the difference:
โ Knowing why mistakes happen
โ Learning the correct approach
โ Fixing thinking gaps
Thatโs where structured review + diagnostic matters.
๐ฏ This is what we focus on.
