Where children build the resilience necessary for lifelong growth and development.

At Acacia Rise, we are keen on educating children in ways that encourage mindfulness. We want our children to be able to analyse, reflect, make contrast, problem solve. It may sound like it is challenging to achieve, particularly with children that face challenges. However, we believe it is possible and we hope to share some of our thoughts and provide some resources via this group.

Episode 3 is here. 💛
Resilience doesn’t appear overnight; it’s built slowly, in the moments when we pause, reset, and try again.

This week, Christina shares her journey of rediscovering herself as a parent, caring for her own emotional well-being, and supporting her son as he grew confident enough to join a group competition.

A gentle reminder that when parents feel supported, children feel safe to grow.

💡 Empathy ≠ Agreement
A common worry I hear from parents is: “If I show empathy, won’t my child think their behaviour is okay?”
Here’s the truth:
👉 Empathy doesn’t mean you condone the behaviour.
👉 Empathy means you understand the feeling driving the behaviour.
For example:
“You’re angry because playtime ended — I get it. It’s hard to stop when you’re having fun. But throwing toys isn’t safe.”
✨ Notice what happens here:
You’ve named and validated the emotion.
You’ve also held the boundary firmly.
This balance is powerful. Empathy builds connection. Boundaries build safety. Kids need both.
Next time your child is melting down, try this 3-step script:
1️⃣ Name the feeling (“You’re frustrated.”)
2️⃣ Show you get it (“It’s hard when…”)
3️⃣ Hold the limit (“But hitting isn’t safe. Let’s find another way.”)
❤️ When children feel understood, they’re more open to guidance.
👉 What’s one way you’ve shown empathy and kept a boundary recently? Share below — your story might help another parent!
