From helping his younger brother manage severe eczema as a child to caring for patients as a doctor, Dr Zachary Allen Vincent’s journey into medicine began with a simple but meaningful desire to help.

One experience that pushed him beyond his comfort zone was a six-week medical elective in Uganda. Working in a rural hospital, Dr Vincent learned to adapt to limited resources, rely on clinical judgement and sharpen his hands-on skills while participating in a high volume of surgical cases. Beyond medicine, he was inspired by the warmth, generosity and strong sense of community among the Ugandan people.

As a Toh Kian Chui Gold Medal recipient, Dr Zachary Allen Vincent is an example of how curiosity, compassion and a willingness to step into unfamiliar environments can shape a doctor’s journey.

We were delighted to welcome parents of pre-university students to last Saturday as part of ’s outreach activities, giving them a closer look at our NTU MBBS undergraduate programme and the wider curriculum.

Parents heard from Assoc Prof See Jee Jian (Assistant Dean of Admissions) about the programme offerings, admissions process and teaching methods. Current Year 3 medical student Ho Zhi Ling also shared her overseas community engagement experience, as well as her experience organising Camp Simba and the Anatomy Challenge, which helped her hone her leadership skills.

Dr Eugene Chua, a House Officer with NUHS, gave parents a candid glimpse into life as a junior doctor, sharing how his experience during National Service led him to pursue medicine instead of his original plan to become an educator.

The session also sparked lively interest, with parents raising questions about UCAT registration, National Service disruptions and the subject requirements for admission.

In palliative care, relieving pain and supporting people through some of life’s most challenging moments takes more than clinical expertise. Recognising this need, offers Asia’s first stackable postgraduate programme in Holistic Palliative Care (HoPE), providing healthcare professionals with a progressive pathway from a Graduate Certificate, to a FlexiMasters, and eventually to a Master of Science (MSc) in HoPE.

🎓 Last month, we celebrated a milestone for our HoPE learners – 46 graduates from the second Graduate Certificate cohort and 24 graduates from the inaugural FlexiMasters cohort successfully completed their respective programmes.

💙 We also warmly welcomed 55 new learners to the third Graduate Certificate cohort as they began their journey to deepen their knowledge and skills in holistic palliative care.

The HoPE programme combines online and onsite multidisciplinary learning to strengthen learners’ expertise in holistic, patient-centred palliative care and support a skilled and compassionate palliative care workforce in Singapore and the region.

We are proud to walk alongside our learners as they build the knowledge, confidence and compassion to provide care when it matters most.

The 13th Singapore Chief Residency Programme (SCRP) recently concluded, recognising promising senior residents from Singapore’s public healthcare system as future physician leaders.
