*Calling for Advertisers for the OVA milestone publication, Greater than Ourselves, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Victoria School.*

We are seeking advertisers to help fund the remaining cost of the book, covering the shortfall from the funds raised at the 2025 Oct golf tournament, enabling us to bring this meaningful project to completion. We have also expanded its coverage in response to the many inspiring names that continue to come in.

You can support this cause by placing an advertisement with a congratulatory message as a representative for your class or your extracurricular group. This is also a once-in-a-lifetime chance to reach out to and reconnect with long-lost friends.

Corporate advertisements are welcome too.

More details on pricing and advertisement mock-ups can be found here:

*Submission deadline: 31st May 2026*

Note that Victoria School will not conduct any fundraising for its celebration of our alma mater’s 150th anniversary. Advertising sponsorship is an indirect opportunity to give back to the school that has given us so much.

Any surplus generated will eventually go toward the OVA yearly sponsorship of VS and VJC activities, the VS/VJC cross-country shoes sponsorship, the teachers’ day celebration, the VS Gradnite, scholarships, students on financial assistance, and school prizes. A portion will also fund OVA expenditure, programs, and activities.

*Greater than Ourselves* has 11 chapters and more than 450 pages. It will be available for download as an ebook on July 24th. A decision on the print copy will be made later, depending on our fundraising efforts.

For others came before and went, and walked a glorious path. We hope these more than 100 stories will inspire future generations of Victorians to follow in those remarkable footsteps. They can, on their own terms, to keep her flag unfurled.

The 11 chapters in our commemorative book are:

1. Presidents and Members of Parliament
Honor our former Presidents and Members of Parliament for their service to our country.

2. Nation Building
Pay tribute to our civil servants, the guardians of the public interest, who have provided strong public leadership, strengthened our institutions, ensured the fair management of public resources, and shaped policies for Singapore’s long-term development.

3. Industry Leadership
Celebrate the achievements of Chairmen and CEOs who provide visionary leadership across the critical sectors that power Singapore’s economy.

4. Professionals
We salute our men in uniform in the military and the police for their steadfast leadership in safeguarding our nation and our people’s security. And embrace the spirit of service among doctors and an architect who went beyond their call of duty.

5. Community and Faith
The heart and soul of our society. We pay tribute to our religious and community leaders, whose service preserves the social cohesion essential to harmony in our multi-racial society.

6. Education, Culture, and the Arts
We celebrate our alumni who laid the foundations for technical, social work, physical, and music education in Singapore. We also applaud our Cultural Medallion winner in art and literature, as well as the achievements of those who contributed to journalism, comic art, and film production.

7. The school that watch’d us grow
They joined VS as adolescents and left as young gentlemen. Our exemplary students thrived in diverse circumstances. Beyond academic excellence, they are all-rounders who are leaders, athletes, and captains. They participated in academic olympiads and championed community work.

8. Victoria thy sons are we
Our hearts and spirits never truly left. Our alumni are always ready to give back, time, resources, and experience to strengthen the school community. In sports and culture, we continue to compete and represent our school’s values with pride, bringing distinction to the alumni community on both the local and global stage.

9. We will not forget
With profound gratitude, we pay tribute to our principals, teachers, coaches, instructors, parents, and support staff, whose unwavering guidance shaped the values, discipline, and strength that guide us throughout our lives.

10. Thy triumphs see
Who inspired the legendary Kallang Roar that sent chills down the spine of Merdeka Stadium? Who left an indelible mark on Singapore football? We will also celebrate the character of athletes who won medals for Singapore at the regional and world stages.

11. And carried to the world
We celebrate our alumni who left a legacy of community and commerce beyond the shores of Singapore, in the fields of investments, banking, law, social enterprise, film production, philanthropy, and education.

At VS 150th Speech Day, Mr How Kwang Hwee, Commissioner of Police and proud Victorian (VS 1992 - 1995, VJC 1996 - 1997), encouraged students to lead with gratitude, serve others, and give back to the community.

Highlights of his speech are as follows:

* In his speech, Kwang Hwee congratulated the award recipients for their achievements, and also congratulated VS staff and students for their academic and sporting achievements, and for staying true to the school’s vision of every Victorian being a “Gentleman, Sportsman and Leader”.
* He shared his experiences as a Victorian in VS including opportunities to pick up sporting skills and participate in inter-class sports competitions, as well as opportunities to take up leadership roles and develop leadership skills through his involvement in the Prefectorial Board, Camp Leaders and NPCC activities. Through these, he learnt valuable sportsmanship and leadership skills which continued to serve him well in life and career in the Singapore Police Force.
* Kwang Hwee encouraged the students to reflect on their experiences and think about what and who they were grateful to, as personal successes were not only due to individual efforts but also a result of what they had received from others. Those who had helped them, those who had made a difference in their lives.
* He shared his experiences in VS where he encountered challenges and expressed his appreciation to the friends, teachers and his parents whom he was grateful to for helping him through his growing up years.
* Kwang Hwee also urged the students to give back to the society and to help others. He highlighted good examples of two Victorians from the Class of 2025 who were involved in setting up and running the Legacy Ignis, which was a student-led platform that empowered Victorians to initiate and sustain meaningful service projects for the community.
* Kwang Hwee concluded his speech by thanking the teachers and parents for being the steady hand to guide the students, to support them and to care for them. He wished the students the very best for their future and encouraged them to reflect on who they were grateful to and how they could give back and be of service to others.

Our brother, Lim Siang Chin,

President of the OVA Council, 2024–2026
President of the VJC Student Council, 1987–1988
VJC, 1987–1988
VS, 1983–1986

Siang Chin put his corporate career on hold to serve the wider community. What began as a willingness to step away from professional success became a lifelong commitment to the people and causes he believed in. In time, he gave up that career entirely, devoting his life fully to community work.

The lives we touch and the good we leave behind are more important than personal achievements.

When OVA needed leadership, he stepped forward again and served wholeheartedly, despite his family commitments.

We are deeply grateful to our brother, Lim Siang Chin, for his steadfast leadership of the OVA Council from 2024 to 2026. We are proud to have served under his leadership and to have learned about service and commitment to a purpose Greater than Ourselves.

Thank you bro!

OVA Council
