🌟 Giving Back, Growing Together 🌟

At Parkway College, learning extends beyond the classroom. It is also about building a culture of compassion, inclusivity, and service to the communities around us. ❤️

Recently, our team spent a meaningful evening at MINDSville@Napiri, joining residents in a Mid-Autumn celebration filled with lantern walks 🏮, conversations, laughter, and shared moments of connection.

What stood out was not the activities themselves, but the relationships formed through them. From walking side by side to sharing stories and creating balloon sculptures 🎈🌸, we were reminded that simple acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

As a Parkway College family, we believe that caring for others goes beyond healthcare education. It is about fostering empathy, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for genuine human connection. 🤝

We are grateful to the residents and staff of MINDSville@Napiri for welcoming us so warmly. We came with the intention of giving back, but left inspired by the resilience, joy, and spirit of the community. ✨

Together, we continue to build a more inclusive society, one small act of kindness at a time. 💙

💙 Supporting Healthcare Professionals Through Challenging Moments 💙

When patient safety incidents occur, the impact extends beyond patients and families. Healthcare professionals involved may also experience significant emotional and psychological distress. These individuals are often referred to as the "Second Victims."

Parkway College recently conducted the Second-Victim Peer Support programme, facilitated by Adjunct Associate Professor Mona Soh, Head, Parkway College of Nursing & Allied Health, IHH Healthcare Singapore.

Through meaningful discussions, case-based learning and practical strategies, participants explored how to:

✅ Recognise the emotional impact of adverse events on healthcare professionals
✅ Foster psychological safety within healthcare teams
✅ Provide effective peer support to colleagues in times of need
✅ Build a culture of compassion, resilience and well-being

As healthcare continues to evolve, creating supportive environments for our workforce is essential to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their active engagement and commitment to strengthening peer support within their organisations. Together, we can care for those who care for others. 💙

🤖📚 Empowering Educators with AI & Data Skills 📊✨

Our monthly educators' learning session focused on building future-ready teaching capabilities through the practical use of technology and data. 🚀

This month, our educators explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used to rapidly create course materials, helping to streamline content development while maintaining quality and relevance for learners. 🤖💡 From generating ideas to accelerating resource creation, AI is opening new possibilities for healthcare education.

We also learnt valuable data analysis skills from our administrative team, gaining hands-on experience in creating Pivot Tables to organise, analyse, and visualise information more effectively. 📊🔍

These collaborative learning opportunities strengthen our capabilities as educators and reinforce our commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering impactful learning experiences for healthcare professionals. 🌱❤️
Together, we continue to learn, innovate, and transform care through education. ✨

💡 Did You Know?

Did you know that emotional intelligence (EI) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, patient-centred care? ❤️🏥

Healthcare professionals use emotional intelligence to: ✅ Build trust through effective communication

✅ Navigate challenging conversations with empathy 🤝
✅ Strengthen relationships with patients and colleagues 👥
✅ Manage emotions and respond calmly under pressure 🌟
✅ Create more positive patient experiences 💙

Tools such as SOLER, OARS, and SMART goal-setting help healthcare professionals enhance communication, self-awareness, and emotional regulation in everyday healthcare settings.

🌱 Strong emotional intelligence doesn't just improve workplace interactions, it helps create better outcomes for the people who matter most: patients.

Trainer Spotlight: Isabelle Wong 🌟

Great learning doesn’t happen by chance — it happens when knowledge is translated into action.

Meet Isabelle Wong.

A National University of Singapore (NUS) graduate, Isabelle brings together healthcare expertise, educational innovation, and AI-enabled learning to create meaningful learning experiences for healthcare professionals. 🏥💡

What sets Isabelle apart is her ability to bridge organisational needs with practical learning solutions. Through engaging, learner-centred facilitation, she helps learners connect theory to practice, building the confidence and competence needed to excel in an evolving healthcare landscape.

💬 "What matters isn't how much you teach — it's how much learners take away."
For Isabelle, success is measured by the impact learners create after the classroom — applying new skills, making better decisions, and delivering better outcomes for patients and teams.

✨ Learner outcomes: Confidence. Capability. Real-world impact.

💬 Give Isabelle a shoutout in the comments or hit 👍 to show your appreciation for the difference she makes in healthcare education and workplace learning!
