💣"Do more TYS practices" - the common advice to students.
Before you buy more guidebooks, assessment books that end up gathering dust...READ ON‼️
📕Practicing a skill incorrectly doesn't lead to perfection—it only cements bad habits and makes permanent mistakes.
💡The phrase "practice makes perfect" is incomplete; it takes intentional, mindful, and highly focused repetitions—perfect practice—to master any craft.
⚙️Here's how we do it at Wordsmiths Learning Centre, having coached thousands of students for Humanities & English...
Core Principles of Perfect Practice at WLC
📍 Quality Over Quantity: Blindly repeating a task does not build skill. You must be highly deliberate with every repetition.
📍Mindful Ex*****on: Focus intently on the mechanics of what you are doing rather than just going through the motions.
📍Continuous Adjustment: Recognize mistakes instantly, analyze why they happened, and actively correct them on the next rep.
📍Building a Baseline: Perfect practice builds the correct muscle memory and instincts you can rely on under pressure

Alot of students sitting for the national exams realise in the second half of the year their answering techniques are not complete or worse still - have not learned them yet.
And they regret not checking earlier. A word of advice to students - always have your assessments checked. Here is a checklist:
📍Is the assessment a fair overview of your abilities?
📍Is the scope of the assessment complete?
📍Are you sufficiently tested?
📍Is the difficulty level consistent with the level?
📍Is the marking fair?
For Humanities subjects, the problems or weaknesses may not present itself in WA results, giving a false sense of confidence and they end up not doing well for their End of Year exams. This is where the shock and denial comes in.
"How can it be? I have been scoring As for my WAs.
It could be an anomaly."
Sounds familiar? We hear this all the time. The weaknesses compound over time quietly and then show up during crucial exams.
Break the cycle.
1. Get your papers and skills checked.
2. Get the right coaching from trained and experienced ex-MOE Humanities teachers.

📍[SEC 3/4 STUDENTS]📍
Your WA1 results are out and here are some scenarios:
✅ Scenario 1: A1-B3 zone
This is a good sign. It shows you understood what was required. However don't be complacent (esp if you are in Sec 3/4). The WA1 assesses a small portion of the actual exam paper so you should check your competency to complete a full paper to have a better gauge.
📍Scenario 2: B4-C6 zone
Ask for a consult with your school teachers and/or tutors. It is not good enough to analyse the answers provided. You should be looking at what mistakes you made and how to correct them. Acknowledge these mistakes and take steps to get them corrected now - not tomorrow, not the next WA.
📍Scenario 3: D7-E8 zone
Don't go into denial mode. Alot of students wait till it is too late thinking it is just one WA1 - "I used to score As/Bs, so one WA is not significant". Actively see consultation with your subject teachers/tutors to fix the gaps.
➡️ We are running a FREE 60-minute post-WA1 Social Studies webinar to review common mistakes made by students. During this webinar, our subject specialists will:

When your child addresses the root problems early and get them fixed, your child builds stronger exam answering precision to score high marks.
