I'm so proud to have submitted my students' artworks to the 18th SWS National Junior Watercolour Competition 2026. This year, the competition received a record-breaking 1,405 entries, making it more inspiring and competitive than ever!

For me, the biggest achievement isn't winning—it's having the courage to participate, learn and grow through every painting.

Well done to all the young artists. Keep creating and keep believing in yourselves!

很开心今年为学生报名参加 第18届 SWS 全国少年水彩画比赛。
今年赛事共收到 1,405 份作品，创下历年来最高纪录，竞争非常激烈！对我来说，参赛的意义不只是比赛，而是培养孩子的勇气、自信和创造力。

从2D绘画到3D立体创作

In this holiday programme, our young artists began by
illustrating a familiar breakfast in 2D—observing
shapes, colours, composition, light and shadow while
expressing their own ideas. In Part 2, they transformed
their artwork into a 3D clay model, turning a flat
drawing into a tangible creation.
在这次假期课程中，孩子们先观察自己熟悉的早餐，用绘
画方式完成 2D 平面创作，学习构图、色彩、光影与细节观
察。接着，他们再把自己的画作转换成 3D 黏土模型，亲手
把平面的创意变成立体作品。

This process mirrors how many creative industries
work:
✏️ Sketch草图 → 💡 Concept构思 → 🧩 Prototype原型
→ 🏗️ Final Product成品

Whether it's architecture, industrial design, product
development or brand identity, every great creation
starts with an idea on paper. 无论是建筑设计、工业设计

🇸🇬 Celebrating Racial Harmony Day through Art. 种族和谐日｜艺术，不只是画画。

At Visual Xplorer, we believe art is more than creating beautiful pictures.
These two 6-year-old students were given the same theme — Singapore's Racial Harmony Day. Yet their artworks turned out completely different. They included Chinese, Malay and Indian communities, together with the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands and our Singapore skyline, each expressing their own ideas, composition and perspective.

There wasn't a "correct" answer. Through one artwork, children practise far more than drawing:
✨ Observation
✨ Creative thinking
✨ Storytelling
✨ Spatial awareness
✨ Confidence in expressing ideas
✨ Respect and appreciation for different cultures

Art is not simply about aesthetics.
It nurtures creativity, empathy and critical thinking—skills that support learning across many areas, including STEM.

Every child has a unique voice.
Our role is not to make their artworks look the same, but to help them discover their own.

在 Visual Xplorer，我们相信艺术不只是画出漂亮的作品。
这两位6岁的小朋友，以同样的主题——新加坡种族和谐日进行创作。虽然主题相同，但作品却完全不同。
他们画出了华人、马来人、印度人，也加入了鱼尾狮、滨海湾金沙和新加坡天际线，并用自己的方式安排构图和表达故事。

艺术没有标准答案。在创作过程中，孩子学习的不只是绘画技巧，更培养了：
✨ 观察力
✨ 创意思维
✨ 表达能力
✨ 空间概念
✨ 自信心
✨ 尊重与欣赏不同文化

艺术不仅关乎美感，更培养孩子的创造力、同理心与思考能力，这些都是未来学习（包括 STEM）的重要基础。每个孩子都有属于自己的创意。我们希望陪伴他们，勇敢表达自己，而不是画得一模一样。

A mindful pause in the middle of a busy workday.

On 22 June 2026, I had the opportunity to facilitate a Sound Meditation & Chair Yoga session together with Rendy from Synite Training for the corporate team at Fullerton Fund Management as part of their Lunch & Learn programme.

In just one hour, we stepped away from the usual pace of work — creating a moment to pause, breathe, reconnect with the body, and become more present.

Through the combination of singing bowl sound meditation, grounding practices, and mindful chair movement, participants were invited to slow down and listen — not only to the sound, but also to themselves.

Thank you Rendy and Synite Training for the collaboration and trust.
Grateful to bring creative wellness experiences into the workplace and support more people in finding moments of balance amidst their busy days.

透过线条，探索兰花之美。
Discover the Orchid Through Lines.

I guided my 8-year-old student through a special line exploration technique — observing shapes, movement and emotions behind the orchid.

Through lines, she learned to slow down, notice details, and transform what she sees into her own expression.

Art is not just about creating a “perfect” picture.
It is about building confidence, imagination and the courage to explore.

Watching her artwork grow through the process is always the most rewarding part of teaching.

我引导这位8岁学生通过特别的线条探索方式来观察兰花——感受它的形态、流动感，以及花朵背后的情感。

在一笔一画之间，她学会放慢脚步，发现细节，并把眼中所看到的转化成属于自己的艺术表达。

艺术不只是创造一幅“完美”的作品，
更重要的是建立孩子的自信、想象力，以及勇于探索的勇气。

看着孩子在创作过程中一点一点成长，是教学中最让我感到欣慰与珍惜的时刻。
