✨ In April, our NUS MBA students headed to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 🇻🇳 for Global Immersion Program (GIP) 2026, gaining first-hand insights into one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic and fast-growing markets.

From company visits and conversations across the ecosystem – including RMIT, the Singapore Consul-General, Tan Cang New Port, VNG, FPT Software, Amanotes, VinFast, Wilmar Manufacturing, BLOCK71, and C4IR – students explored how organisations innovate, scale, and navigate change across tech, manufacturing, and logistics.

Beyond the boardroom, the cohort also immersed themselves in Vietnam’s culture and history – from the Saigon Opera House and Independence Palace, to the Cu Chi Tunnels. The week wrapped with meaningful connections through a lively networking dinner and plenty of shared moments along the way.

From Tokyo to Singapore, Wataru has been an 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 — driving impact across business, ESG, and student leadership.

As President of the NUS MBA Sustainability, Ethics and Impact Club, he expanded engagement across the wider NUS and alumni community, while also applying his MBA learning through a year-long engagement with Hydroleap, a Singapore-based deep-tech startup.

To Reginald Heng (NUS Part-time MBA, Class of 2025), meant learning to think more systematically, seeing how organisations, markets, and people interconnect, while staying grounded in human-centric solution.

As a Singapore Geospatial Scholar, Reginald began his career in geospatial consulting at Singapore Land Authority (SLA) before being seconded to NParks for GIS development work. Over time, he felt a growing pull toward the bigger picture, wanting to understand how organisations, markets, and people interconnect at a strategic level. When SLA offered him a postgraduate scholarship, he chose the NUS Part-time MBA to grow without stepping away from his career.

Six months into the programme, Reginald moved back to SLA (Career Development & Projects), applying classroom learning in real time. As Academic Liaison (41st Student Council), he also learned that leadership isn’t about authority, but 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲 and 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, especially in tough moments.

Reginald broadened his global perspective through an exchange at London Business School and programmes at Berkeley Haas and HEC Paris, while sharpening his edge through competitions like the INSEAD x DBS Product Innovation Challenge. These experiences reinforced the mindset he brings to work: 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦-𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠.

As he prepares to move into Business Planning & Development at SLA, Reginald shares that the MBA’s value goes beyond traditional metrics—into broader thinking and a community he now calls friends.

For Joshua Macapugay (Class of 2027), December in Manila wasn’t just a break, it became a bridge.

He headed home expecting a quieter pace, but the month quickly filled up in the best way: from catch-ups with friends to coffee chats that helped him stay connected to where he came from, and where he might want to go next. One highlight was a conversation with Gino Borromeo, Head of Strategic Communications at Ayala, which offered honest insight into leadership, transitions, and what “strategic” looks like beyond a title.

Between running sessions with friends, reconnecting with familiar circles, and reflecting on how the MBA is shaping his mindset, December became a reminder that growth isn’t always loud — sometimes it happens in the middle of homecomings.
