In term 1, our Secondary One students visited the Al-Mukminin Mosque to learn more about Islamic culture, values, and practices. The staff and volunteers of the mosque, including Mdm Hamidah Haron and Ustaz Hafiz, shared about the practices of Muslims and the significance of the month of Ramadhan. Students also observed how Muslims prepare for prayers which include the process of ablution, and visited the community pantry in the mosque, a pantry set up to support individuals in need, regardless of race or religion. Through the visit, Nanhuarians gained valuable insights on the importance of respect, unity, and collaboration.
Eva Sun from Class 106 reflects on her experience at Al-Mukminin.
“I feel inspired when I learnt that the mosque distributes free snacks and food to the community. After the visit, I would like to learn more about the different cultural practices of the Muslim community.”
We are grateful to Al-Mukminin mosque for welcoming us and for the heartwarming session. Salam Aidiladha to all our Muslim friends and families. Wishing all Muslims a blessed celebration and a meaningful observance of sacrifice.

On 13 April 2026, we held our 34th Student Council Investiture, which was a truly meaningful and memorable occasion.
We formally welcomed our incoming 34th Student Council and took a moment to honour the dedication and hard work of our outgoing 33rd Student Council.
This year's theme, "Growing Leaders Who Light the Way 茁壮向上,照亮前程", beautifully captured the spirit of the ceremony. It is a reminder that true leadership isn't just about growing ourselves, but about inspiring and uplifting those around us. Just as a light guides others through uncertainty, our student leaders continue to lead with purpose, heart, and conviction.
Congratulations to our 34th Student Council. We can't wait to see the light you bring!

Nan Hua High School’s annual performing arts concert, the Cultural Potpourri, was held on 8 May.
This year’s was a year of firsts. A bilingual play, ran primarily by student leaders, celebrated the theme of Colours in Harmony, and promoted environmental stewardship. Through expressive dances, energetic songs, and dramatic storytelling, the performances brought the audience on a captivating journey through the lives, struggles, and triumphs of two tribes. As the concert drew to a close, it called upon all Nanhuarians to pull together their bicultural identity, and find within it the great strength with which to shine their light in the world.
The theme was perhaps most palpably felt by the performers themselves, who, through effective communication, adaptability and inventive thinking, put together a wonderful programme where every performing arts CCA could contribute and shine. A special mention goes to the student organising team, led by Trace Ting Yan Ting (Class 407) and Cheong Rui En Chloe (Class 403), for their dedication and hard work in bringing the concert to life. Together with a team of student leaders from the aesthetics CCA cluster, they played a key role in conceptualising the script, curating the selection of music pieces, strategising the publicity efforts, and coordinating the various logistical arrangements that ensured the smooth ex*****on of the concert.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the hard work and dedication of the performers and crew. We look forward to seeing you for next year’s Cultural Potpourri!

We are proud to have brought together 296 student delegates from 24 schools across Singapore for our 6th National Youth Environment Conference (NYEC). With the theme 'One Earth. One Responsibility. One Shared Future’, this year's conference served as a powerful platform for youths to deepen their understanding of pressing environmental challenges and reflect on their role in shaping a more sustainable world.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights with the delegates. Your dedication to environmental advocacy and sustainability continues to inspire the next generation of changemakers.
Ms Sam Shu Qin, Marine Biologist & Educator, Co-Founder of Our Singapore Reefs & Our Blue Spaces
Ms Tan Yin Ling, Co-Founder of Cloop Singapore .sg
Ms Petrina Leo, Deputy Director for Climate Adaptation, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment
Ms Cher Yi Jia, Senior Executive of Programmes & Community, EB Impact .impact
The delegates also embarked on immersive learning journeys to deepen their understanding of Singapore's sustainability initiatives. We are grateful to our partners — Sungei Buloh, Gardens by the Bay, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Ground Up Initiative, and Eco-Business — for warmly welcoming our delegates and generously sharing your practices and experiences with them.
The delegates also had the chance to weave upcycled fabric strips into keepsakes such as keychains and coasters during Socials. Thank you to Uniqlo for providing materials for the booth during our Socials. We would also like to thank CLOOP for loaning a textile recycling bin, giving participants the chance to donate their secondhand clothes and give them a new lease of life.
Last but not least, the highlight of this year's conference was our Delegates in Action segment, where students applied design thinking principles to develop physical prototypes –crafted from cardboard – that address real-world environmental issues. It was a testament to the creativity, resourcefulness, and adaptability of our young environmental advocates.
Together, we are one step closer to a greener future.

On 19 April 2026, our students had the honour of participating in the Istana Open House, where they engaged members of the public through the use of Heritage Hearts conversation cards, which invited visitors to reflect on the traditions, food, and games that hold a special place in their lives. In addition, our students also played traditional games with visitors and shared stories behind traditional snacks, bringing a meaningful slice of Singapore's heritage to the event.
Three of our students, Low Qiming (Class 403), Lorraine Fong (Class 408) and Hayley How (Class 208), also had the privilege of introducing the Heritage Hearts project and presenting the cards to Mr Tharman and Mrs Tharman.
We are deeply proud of our students for representing the school with such poise and purpose. We hope that their commitment to keeping Singapore's heritage alive through meaningful conversation and connection will inspire others to do the same.

We kicked off the week with a panel discussion "Finding Home in Diversity" where some students, teachers, and Mr Firdaus Sani (a guest from the Orang Laut SG) shared heartfelt stories about belonging and what "home" truly means to each of them.
During PC and CCE lessons, Nanhuarians dove into captivating literary works and case-studies on how students can build meaningful cultural bridges with the rest of the world. They reflected deeply on their own journeys and crafted beautiful shape poems. Through exciting recess activities, after-school workshops and a mobile library supported by our Parent Support Group, students learnt new ways to express what home means to them.
This week reminded us that whilst our stories may start in different corners of the world, they all come together to create something beautiful here in Nan Hua. As we continue to write our next chapters, let's remember to keep cultivating our hearts and minds, staying curious about the world around us, embracing the richness of different cultures and shining our light as compassionate global citizens.

Our 109th Speech and Prize-Giving Day celebrated the passion and growth of Nanhuarians, as encapsulated by this year's theme, “Growing Our Hearts, Shining Our Light”. The theme reminds Nanhuarians the importance of inner cultivation so that we can bring light and warmth to our community.
Our Guest of Honour, Mrs Lyn Sia-Rosmarin, a Nan Hua High School alumnus, joined us in celebrating the various achievements of Nanhuarians. Sharing her experiences during her time in Nan Hua and beyond, she encouraged Nanhuarians to discover their passions, build resilience, and learn how their talents can contribute to the world. Thank you, Mrs Lyn Sia-Rosmarin, for gracing this event.
On this special occasion, Delroy Aw received the Champions of Society Award, while Andy Zheng was named Student of the Year. During their speeches, they continued to inspire Nanhuarians with their passion and commitment.
To live out the theme, the lower secondary students shone their light in the community, where the Secondary 1 cohort spread smiles to staff members across seven MRT stations, and the Secondary 2 cohort planned engaging programs for the elderly in various active ageing centers. Swipe through the photos to read the students’ reflections on this meaningful activity.
From the riveting performances, to the heartwarming community activities, the 109th Speech Day captured the passionate hearts and shining lights of every Nanhuarian. May this light continue to shine brightly, illuminating pathways for others and inspiring those who follow.
