Can "Play" Actually Wire a Child's Brain for Success?
We often look at a child engaged in an activity and think they are simply staying entertained. But beneath the surface, a profound developmental process is unfolding.
Step inside Nest Preschool’s upcoming Open House and see early education through a completely different lens. Here, purposeful activity is a science, and independent discovery is the curriculum. While your child dives into an immersive, Montessori-inspired loose parts experience by exploring, creating, and problem-solving with thoughtfully curated natural materials, you will discover the hidden architecture behind how they learn.
While your little one is deep in hands-on exploration, our educators will show you how to unlock their full potential. You'll explore:
🌱 The Science of Hands-on Learning: Why manipulating physical materials wires the brain for abstract, advanced concepts.
🌱 The Power of Deep Focus: How protecting your child's concentration now builds immense independence later.
🌱 The Prepared Environment Secret: How a precisely designed classroom layout naturally creates calm, deeply capable children.
🌱 Montessori at Home: Simple, transformative shifts to bring this harmony into your everyday family life.

Across our classrooms, children explored what it means to care for the world around them through hands-on experiences. From creating with recyclable materials to transforming old shirts into tote bags, they discovered that everyday items can still hold purpose.
In simple, everyday conversations, they began to understand how their choices matter. One child shared, “I won’t use plastic bags at the toy store anymore. I can bring my own bag,” a meaningful step towards greater awareness.
A quiet Earth Hour also invited children to slow down and experience a calmer environment, helping them see how their actions, no matter how small, can make a difference.
At Nest Preschool, these moments go beyond a single day, nurturing care, responsibility, and a deeper connection to the world we share.

Does your child find learning Chinese characters a little overwhelming? With so many intricate lines, it can often feel like a daunting task to memorise them all. ✍️
In our classroom, we break down this challenge into something beautiful and manageable. Children are introduced to the structure of Chinese characters through hands-on exploration of individual strokes and their unique forms. By recognising and sorting different strokes, they begin to understand that every single character is simply made up of purposeful lines and patterns.
After completing these stroke awareness activities, they continue by classifying and grouping strokes. This process naturally strengthens their visual discrimination, concentration, and deep understanding of character composition. These tactile experiences help them observe details more carefully, building familiarity with written Chinese in a deeply meaningful way.
Through practice and exploration, they develop genuine confidence in recognising strokes, forming strong, lasting foundations for reading and writing Chinese characters 🤍

🐾 Naming the world around them
Language begins with connection. For the infants and young toddlers in our Nido class at Ubi, it starts with things they can see, touch, and explore. By pairing realistic animal models with clear vocabulary, our youngest learners build understanding through direct, hands-on experience.
With gentle guidance, they quickly learn to recognise and respond. They point, hold, and select the animals as they hear their names. This natural repetition strengthens their vocabulary, sharpens observation skills, and connects spoken words directly to the real world.
These early language moments are simple yet powerful. As they engage with familiar animals, they build the absolute foundations for communication, focus, and a deep awareness of their environment.
At Nest Preschool, language grows naturally through exploration, giving our Nido students the tools to start exploring and expressing themselves with confidence. 🤍

You may have found yourself wondering quietly,
“Is my child ready for preschool?”
This question often comes during everyday moments. A growing desire for independence. Big emotions. Small signs that your child is changing. 🌱
Preschool readiness is not about academics. It is not about sitting still or being ahead. It is about development.
It shows in the way your child begins to do things independently, follows simple routines, connects with others, and slowly learns to manage their emotions with support.
From ages 2 to 5, this growth looks different for every child. Some begin by exploring independently. Others start to seek belonging, focus for longer periods, and take pride in their work.
There is no perfect moment when a child becomes “ready.” Instead, readiness is a pattern. A gradual unfolding that is best supported by an environment that nurtures independence, confidence, and curiosity.
At Nest Preschool, we meet each child where they are, supporting their natural development through a thoughtfully prepared environment 🤍

A moment of discovery in motion. ⛵
Our children launched their handmade boats into the water, exploring how simple actions can create movement. Using pieces of cardboard, they experimented with fanning the air and watched as their boats responded, gliding across the surface. 🌬️
Through this hands-on experience, they began to understand cause and effect, adjusting their movements to influence direction and speed. Each attempt became an opportunity to test ideas, refine their approach, and try again.
Moments like these nurture more than curiosity. They support problem-solving, creativity, and shared learning as children observe and learn from one another.
At Nest Preschool, meaningful learning unfolds through exploration, where even the simplest materials invite deep thinking and discovery. 💡

🏫 The heart of early childhood education lies in knowing children are surrounded each day by people who care for them with patience, consistency, and respect.
At Nest, we are grateful to build strong partnerships with families and to create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and valued as they grow.
Thank you to our families for your trust and for sharing your kind words with our community 🌿

In the classroom, children explore numbers in a concrete and meaningful way. Using the Seguin Board and golden beads, they begin to understand exactly how numbers are formed through tens and ones. 🔢
As children build and read numbers, they learn that each digit has a unique value and place. Through hands-on practice, they connect what they feel and see to the numerals they say, developing a clear, intuitive grasp of how numbers are structured.
With gentle guidance, children match physical quantities to numerals, strengthening their number sense while building confidence in reading and forming larger numbers.

🏫 Parent Workshop: The “Terrible Twos” Aren’t Inevitable. They’re Preventable. Here’s How.
