Crawfurd Silver Care x Centre for Domestic Employees - CDE: Supporting Helpers to Manage Dementia Behaviours

Crawfurd Silver Care is pleased to share that we have entered into a collaboration with the Centre for Domestic Employees - CDE to co-run a series of dementia care courses on managing challenging behaviours. These courses are designed to support domestic helpers who want to upskill or learn more about caring for seniors living with dementia. Our first class was successfully held on 30 August.

The timing is especially relevant. As dementia cases rise in Singapore, more families face the painful reality of loved ones wandering off—even in familiar neighbourhoods.

Through interactive learning and real-life scenarios, helpers gained practical skills to respond with greater empathy and effectiveness—helping seniors live with dignity while staying safer at home and in the community.

As Singapore continues to build a dementia‑friendly community, equipping frontline caregivers—including domestic helpers—is a practical step toward safer, more inclusive neighbourhoods.

As the numbers of dementia cases rise in Singapore, more families will face the challenge of keeping loved ones safe without restricting their lives. Talking Point looks at Japan’s approach and how responsibility of care can be shared.

Empowering Caregivers

A recent CNA TODAY feature reminds us of the important role domestic helpers play in supporting seniors and families. With guidance, encouragement and the right skills, they can become more confident partners in creating a warm and supportive home environment.

Congratulations to the Centre for Domestic Employees - CDE on this remarkable milestone and the success of its caregiving pilot programmes. 🎉💗

We were honoured to join CDE’s May Day celebration, commemorating 10 years of journeying alongside Migrant Domestic Sisters, employers, volunteers and the wider community, in a morning filled with inspiring stories and beautiful performances.

What warmed our hearts most was hearing our trainees share how their learning journey in dementia care has given them greater confidence and understanding in supporting seniors living with dementia. Their stories remind us that caregiving is not just about skills, but also compassion, patience and making a meaningful difference in someone’s daily life.

We are encouraged by the progress made and look forward to empowering more caregivers through education and training to build a more caring and inclusive community for our seniors.

A big thank you to CDE for championing caregiver education and empowering the caregiving community. We look forward to continuing this meaningful journey together. 💗
