Merry Christmas!

Celebration activities with the school decorated with Christmas crafts made by the children. Our children wore the colors of Christmas and brought gifts to the school happily to participate in the gift exchange. They enjoyed the fun games filled with lots of laughter and had face and tattoo painting, plus popcorns and movie afternoon!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Blastoff! Whoo, it’s the December Holiday period time of the year. For this month, we have planned for fun activities for our children to explore more about the outer space!

Just last week, our children are encouraged to come to school dressed in anything related to the "Space" theme. Each of them show casted their dressing and briefly talked about it with the teacher's guidance.

We are thankful to our parents for the effort put in to make this an eventful and interesting day for the children. We sure enjoyed seeing the creativity of the parents and children so much!

Outdoor activities with purposeful and planned sports activities which not only allow children to exercise their jumping ability, but also improves the development of children's gross motor skills. In this activity, children are required to jump forward and landing on both feet on the ground. Teacher also increased the difficulty of the activity by getting the children to try to jump forward with a sandbag between your feet. The children enjoyed the activity and even wanted more!

Diwali, the Festival of Lights!
Our children rocked the celebration coming in to school dressed in the different traditional Indian costumes and home clothes. From learning about the traditions of how Deepavali is celebrated, to the different types of Indian traditional costumes, Indian traditional food and Henna Art session, our children also danced around to the Indian songs played. Wishing all Hindu family and friends, a Happy Deepavali!

Chinese Lesson Activity based on the theme of "Nutritious Breakfast". Learning Chinese the fun way! Children match the corresponding names based on the food models. During the process, the children were very serious and even asked the teacher if they were unsure!

Our children and parents had an enjoyable time at the Long Kang Fishing Excursion as part of the Children's Day celebration!

We had long kang fishing, fish spa and fish feeding sessions. Everyone enjoyed the day and each child got to bring home the fishes caught, a fish tank and fishing net too!

中秋节快乐！Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Last Friday, our children at Discovery Kidz celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with various games and activities. They learnt about the origins and customs of traditional Chinese festival, actively competed in quizzes; tasted the mooncakes they brought in; had a fun and exciting pomelo peeling competition; and played different game prepared by the teacher.

Everyone had a great Mid-Autumn celebration!

Science experiment on chemical reaction:

For this month's science activity, our children carried out an experiment to observe what will happen when vinegar and baking soda are combined together.

At the start of the lesson, children were asked to smell and described the scent of the vinegar. During the experiment, children dropped in the coloured vinegar onto the baking soda and observed that the baking soda bubbled up when vinegar is added. They also experimented with water to see the differences in the reactions.

Teacher explained to the children on why the vinegar caused bubbling reactions but the water did not. At the end of the activity, children were also asked to touch the end product of the experiment to feel the texture.

It was an interesting hands-on experiment which the children enjoyed watching the bubbling reaction!

It's the monthly Waterplay! 💦 Look at the happy faces of the children!

Our children always look forward to enjoy water play, dipping into the pool under the ☀️! They definitely enjoyed themselves and had such a delightful time splashing around with their friends!

Our children had a fantastic time celebrating our nation's 58th birthday! They came to school dressed in red and white outfit, learnt more about Singapore such as the landmarks and icons, had stick-on tattoo and played games. As part of the celebration, children also did the iconic Singapore workout and sang the famous National Day songs!

Racial Harmony Day is a day commemorated in Singapore which marks the race riots that broke out on the 21st of July in 1964. On this day, we are reminded that social division weakens society, and that race and religion will always be potential fault-lines in Singapore's society. Children were taught the importance of maintaining racial and religious harmony in a multicultural and multi ethnic country like Singapore.

During the celebration, children learnt about why Singapore celebrate Racial Harmony Day, the different cultures in Singapore, the traditional costumes and delicacies and also played some traditional games such as five stones, congkak and hopscotch.

Children also came to school dressed up in the ethnic costumes and sampled the different ethnic food. They all had a fun celebration in school and kept asking to play more of the traditional games!

At Discovery Kidz, we offer Gymnastics class from Tiny Tots which allow children to learn the fundamental skills needed for further learning in sports. Children develop their gross motor skill through activities that have been designed for their age group and abilities. Our children had fun, enjoyment and laughter at every Gym lesson!
