National Day Challenge 2026 🇸🇬
The spirit of National Day was in full stride as Yuhuans gathered at West Coast Park for our annual National Day Challenge!

More than just a 2.4km run, this cherished tradition is a celebration of resilience, determination and community. Every Yuhuan challenged themselves to achieve a personal best, knowing that every bronze, silver and gold timing translates into donations for the President’s Challenge—with even more pledged when they outrun our fastest teacher!

The morning began with an energetic Dance of the Nation, setting the tone for a celebration filled with excitement, laughter and school spirit. Throughout the event, vibrant performances by our talented students and teachers kept the energy soaring, before the park rang loud with the voices of Yuhuans proudly singing our school song together.
Every stride reflected the courage to push beyond limits. Every cheer reminded us that success is sweeter when shared. And every achievement became an opportunity to give back to the wider community.
As one Yuhua family, we celebrated not only our nation's birthday, but also the values that define us—Above All, CARE³—having the courage to Care, Connect and Contribute.

Every Teacher a Learner

At YHSS, our teachers don't just teach — they also keep learning! Through our Open Classrooms initiative, more than 40 teachers have welcomed colleagues into their lessons this year, sharing fresh ideas and inspiring one another, with the shared goal of growing together as a community of skillful teachers.

With a spirit of professional collaboration, our teachers are using different pedagogies to develop 21st Century Competencies in our Yuhuans — from critical thinking and cross-cultural literacy, to adaptive problem-solving. They invite colleagues in to observe, reflect, and co-create engaging learning experiences together. Educational technology is embraced purposefully to spark inquiry, fuel exploration, and deepen discussion in the classrooms — with AI chatbots supporting student self-directed learning, and learning analytics helping teachers respond to every Yuhuan's needs in the moment.

This is what professional learning at YHSS looks like — educators who are curious, collaborative, and always asking: how can we do this better for our Yuhuans?

Yuhua Connects
Last weekend, the Yuhua Parent Support Group (PSG) Executive Committee came together to organise a meaningful morning of connection and engagement for our parent community. Through a warm potluck breakfast, parents had the opportunity to meet fellow PSG members and the EXCO, fostering new friendships and strengthening existing relationships.

Families also participated in an interactive 5 Love Languages Mini Amazing Race, thoughtfully designed and facilitated by PSG members. The series of fun and meaningful stations encouraged parents, children and spouses to work together, communicate and appreciate one another's love languages while strengthening their family bonds. Parents also enjoyed exploring parts of the school, learnt more about upcoming PSG programmes and initiatives, and exchanged ideas on how they could contribute to the school community.

Filled with laughter, teamwork and meaningful conversations, the morning reflected the PSG's commitment to building a supportive, connected and vibrant parent community while creating lasting memories for both parents and their children.

Racial Harmony Day 2026 | Our People, Our Tapestry 🌏❤️
Today, Yuhuans came together to celebrate the rich diversity that makes our school community so special. Clad in vibrant traditional attire, the school came alive in a spectacular display of colours, cultures and traditions.
The celebrations continued with the ever-popular Racial Harmony Day Class TikTok Challenge, where creativity met culture as each class shared their unique take on Singapore's multicultural identity. Through laughter, storytelling and collaboration, our students discovered that every culture has a story worth celebrating—and every story brings us closer together.
Beyond the festivities, Racial Harmony Day reminds us that harmony is built not just in celebrations, but in our everyday actions—through respect, empathy and a genuine willingness to understand one another. These are the qualities that help our Yuhuans grow as compassionate global citizens who can thrive in an interconnected and multicultural world.

Nurturing Yuhuans with Connect Globally!

We were delighted to welcome our friends from Wuxi Jiangnan Middle School (无锡市江南中学) for an enriching cultural exchange that celebrated learning, friendship and global connections.

Our Yuhuans proudly stepped up as buddies, guiding their peers through engaging classroom lessons, introducing them to school life in Singapore, and exploring our vibrant neighbourhood together. From learning side by side to sharing stories and laughter, every interaction became an opportunity to connect across cultures.

Beyond the day's activities, our students developed essential 21st Century Competencies—strengthening their communication, collaboration and cross-cultural understanding while learning to appreciate diverse perspectives with empathy and respect.

These authentic experiences remind us that some of the most meaningful learning happens when we step beyond the classroom and embrace the world around us.
What began as a cultural exchange quickly blossomed into genuine friendships, creating memories that will last long after the visit has ended.

Here's to many more opportunities to learn beyond borders, build global friendships, and nurture Yuhua Changemakers whose voices—and hearts—can make a difference in an increasingly interconnected world.

Every voice has the power to make a difference.
At our annual iSay Townhall, Yuhuans came together to share their ideas, aspirations and concerns, proving that positive change begins when students are empowered to speak up.

From thoughtful suggestions to strengthen our school culture, innovative ideas to make learning more engaging, and meaningful proposals to enhance student well-being, our students demonstrated initiative, empathy and a genuine desire to shape a better Yuhua for all.

Guided by the spirit of Above All, CARE³, iSay is more than a conversation—it is a celebration of student voice, leadership and partnership. We are proud of every Yuhuan who had the courage to contribute, the confidence to share, and the passion to make a difference.
