Singapore’s education system is changing. From 2027 onwards, the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) will replace the traditional GCE O-Level and N-Level certificates.
What does this mean for students and parents? How do G1, G2, and G3 subjects work? What happens to Express and Normal streams?
We break down the key changes and what families can expect as Singapore moves towards a more flexible and strengths-based education system.

On 23 May 2026, Hanbridge Institute was honoured to co-organise the seminar “Public Education in Singapore for Teenagers: Opportunities, Challenges, and Strategies for Holistic Development” in Ho Chi Minh City together with the HCM City Overseas Vietnamese Support Center (ALOV Center). During the seminar, Mr Kevin Dinh Hoang Ha, Country Director (Vietnam) at Hanbridge Institute, shared insights on the realities and opportunities within Singapore’s education system, while guest speakers discussed mental wellness, AI, and future workforce trends. We were especially encouraged by the strong engagement during the Q&A session, where many students and parents actively asked questions about studying and adapting to life in Singapore.
