We used to be happy
Smiles used to be etched on our faces
Affectionate hugs and kisses used to be generously poured around
I used to think such unadulterated happiness will stay forever

Oh I have never been so wrong.
As everything changed.
The moment they attacked.

They took away our loved ones.
They took away our independence.
They took away our happiness.
Ruthlessly. Cold-heartedly.
With cruel finesse.
Now all that's left are our tears.
The only signs of affection are embraces as we grieve.
Every moment we dream of the day they will leave.

But no more.
We need to grapple for what was once ours.
We need to fight against their power.
