St. Margaret's Secondary School

Last week, our students had a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their love for literature at the National Schools Literature Festival, showcasing their creativity and critical thinking across a range of events.

From bringing Animal Farm to life through a compelling Book Trailer, to delivering a powerful Choral Speaking performance, our students demonstrated both imagination and teamwork and how well they understood the text.

Our Upper Secondary students also rose to the challenge of the Unseen Debate, where they presented thoughtful analysis and persuasive arguments about poetry.
We are incredibly proud of all our girls for their dedication, courage, and passion for literature.

This year’s Racial Harmony Day honoured the enduring values of the pioneers who helped shape Singapore into the harmonious and multicultural nation it is today. Honouring pioneers who have had local roads named after them, our students explored the values they embodied and applied them to authentic school-based scenarios by proposing inclusive solutions.

The commemoration also featured a captivating drama performance by our English Drama Club, bringing to life the stories of four of our distinguished pioneers. Students embraced Singapore’s rich cultural diversity by dressing in ethnic attire and rounded off the week with a vibrant Food Fiesta.

Through these meaningful experiences, our school reaffirmed that racial harmony is not just a legacy of the past, but a shared responsibility that each of us continues to uphold every day.

Term 3 marked the exciting return of a much-loved pre-COVID tradition—our SMSS Sports Carnival! 🎉

The day was filled with fun, teamwork, and friendly competition as students gave their all to earn points for their houses. From Dart-tag and Kinball to Archery-tag, Tchoukball, and Boccia, the wide variety of unique sports meant there was something for everyone to enjoy.

With high spirits, great sportsmanship, and enthusiastic participation throughout the day, our school community showed what it means to work together, support one another, and embrace every challenge. What a fantastic celebration of teamwork, diversity, and house pride! 💪🏆

Five days. Four disciplines. One city that refused to be understood simply. 🇻🇳 From the weight of the War Remnants Museum to the ingenuity beneath Cu Chi’s tunnels; from the sacred slopes of Ba Den to the resilient stalls of Ben Thanh; from Khaar’s quiet revolution in sustainable fashion to the kindergarten classrooms of Maison Chance — our girls moved through Ho Chi Minh City not as tourists, but as learners. ✏️ History, Literature, Geography, and Business each offered a different lens, and Social Studies held it all together.
At Maison Chance, that learning became lived: the girls arrived having studied the community, and left having been changed by it — by the story of how it came to be, by the work it quietly does every day, and by the children who met them with open arms and no shared language. That, for us, is what service learning is. Not helping from a distance. Standing alongside, and letting that change you. 💚🌍

Over the June Holidays, a group of our students spent an enriching week in Cambodia, learning, serving, and building meaningful connections with the communities they visited. 🇰🇭Through interactions with students at Wisdom Nest School and Veal Thom Primary School, they bonded over mathematics games and collaborative activities, discovering that friendship can transcend language and cultural differences. ➗🟰🤝
The trip also included a visit to a local primary school, where our students spent time engaging with the children and worked together to create a mural that symbolises friendship and what they hope for the students to learn. 🎨🖌️
Beyond the activities, the experience broadened our students’ perspectives and deepened their appreciation for the people they met. They returned home with cherished memories, new friendships, and a greater understanding of how they can make a positive difference in the world around them. 🌍 ✨💚

Last week, we gathered as one St. Margaret’s family for our 184th Speech & Prize-Giving Day, a celebration of excellence. We were honoured to welcome our Guest-of-Honour, Fiona Tan, who spoke about the importance of community through the analogy of our iconic polka-dot uniform. Just as every dot is part of a larger pattern, each student plays a unique and meaningful role in shaping the St. Margaret’s community. 🟢 🏫
The afternoon was enlivened by captivating performances from our Band, Choir, Indian Dance, and Chinese Dance, whose talent and dedication added joy and vibrancy to the celebration. 💚
Most importantly, we came together to recognise and affirm our students, both current and graduating, for their outstanding achievements, perseverance, and resilience throughout the year and in the national examinations. ⭐️Each award presented was a reminder not only of academic success, but also of the courage, determination, and growth shown along the journey. 💪
Congratulations to all our prize winners and graduands! May you continue to pursue your purpose, nurture your passions, and embrace the possibilities ahead as you let your light shine brightly wherever you go. 🔆

Our Secondary 1 students embarked on an exciting three-day Outdoor Adventure Camp filled with opportunities to step out of their comfort zones. From dragon boating 🚣‍♂️and climbing 🧗‍♀️to outdoor cooking 🍳and navigation challenges, 🧭every activity encouraged our students to grow in confidence, teamwork, and courage. 💪
Beyond the challenges and adventures, the camp was also a meaningful time of reflection, bonding, and discovery as students learnt more about themselves, supported one another, and forged new friendships. It was also a valuable opportunity for students and Form Teachers to strengthen their relationships, creating memories and connections that will support them throughout their secondary school journey. 🌸

Through activities like trekking expeditions, high elements, and team challenges, they learnt to push their limits, support one another, and build confidence in unfamiliar environments. 🌳🥾🧗‍♀️
