The toddlers had an icy adventure during Mess & Make last week! 🧊🧊🧊

The children explored frozen paint pieces—feeling the chill with their hands, sliding them across paper to create vibrant streaks of color, and even stepping on larger pieces with their feet for a full-body sensory experience!

This kind of play isn't just fun—it builds sensory awareness, creativity, and motor skills, all while encouraging curiosity and exploration. Sometimes the coolest masterpieces come from the messiest moments!

To celebrate World Water Day 🌎💙💧, we created an exploration room where the children learned about the importance of water, how to keep it clean, and ways to save it.

The kids got hands-on by helping to "clean the water" by scooping out trash like plastic cups and bottle caps using a fishing net.

They also discovered the many uses of water beyond drinking! 🎨 With natural items like dried leaves and branches, they dipped them in water mixed with food colouring to paint on white cloth, creating beautiful marks with nature.

Finally, the children observed the difference between clean and polluted water 🌊. They noticed how the clear water allowed fish to be seen, while the polluted water made it impossible.

Throughout the week, our Kindies were introduced to paper cutting 剪纸 (jian zhi), a popular Chinese folk art that involves cutting intricate patterns on paper. It is used to decorate the house, celebrations and even weddings. All you need is paper and scissors! Red paper would be best as it signifies joy and festivities.

Through the idea of paper cutting, children are able to focus as they figure out the design that they want by exploring and seeking inspiration from different books and visuals prepared by the teachers. They exercise self control as they cut the paper precisely and maintain control in order to create the piece they have in mind.

At Pre-School By The Park, we provide ample time and space for children to explore at their own pace in an unhurried manner in experiences such as this one.

We had an incredible experience at Capa Kindergarten, where the partnership between academia and practical application truly shines. It was inspiring to see an early childhood professor consulting to help establish sound, research-backed practices.

Founder Director Li shared candidly about the preschool’s challenges and, more importantly, how they’ve overcome them as a united team.

As we toured the classrooms, we were amazed to see children fully immersed and engaged in their learning spaces.

A big thank you to Doctor Susan, Doctor Zhang and Curriculum Specialist Xiao Hui for guiding us through their meticulous planning systems and rich documentation. It’s clear that every detail is designed to support our little learners.
