As some of you may know, OBU has released an update urging the use of online communication methods by all mentors. All our mentorships are done online, so that does not change the way we approach our mentorship.

In addition, some other updates from the university include:
Extension of the submission window until 27 May 2020
P40 Industry sectors (for topics 8 & 15) will be valid for P41
Students, for whom P40 was their last available submission under the 10 year rule, will have an extension to P41.

This extension would certainly be useful for many students who have been affected by the COVID-19 situation worldwide. Stay safe, and pass well!

This is a bonus point specific to students writing the OBU RAP. When reading a source, do you fully understand it? If you don’t, it is not possible for you to evaluate it. Furthermore, it would be difficult to write it in your own words. Usually, examiners can easily sense whether a student understands what he is writing. Without understanding, the writing often appears jerky and disjointed. Only select sources that you understand.

Depending on your purpose, recent information might be critical. For example, to do a Porter’s Five Forces on the smartphone industry, we would not wish for OBU Research Reports that discuss the iPhone 4. Those reports do not reflect the current state of industry. However, for certain purposes such as defining a model and its limitations, it might not be as important to have the latest information. Porter’s self-written articles, in 1995, will do a good job in defining the Five Forces.
