The National University of Singapore (NUS) Medical Grand Challenge (MGC) is a year-long, university-wide medical innovation challenge that will run from now until August 2017.

Participation is open to all students at the National University of Singapore. Participants, our student-innovators, will work towards developing solutions to challenges and as-yet-unmet needs in healthcare and medicine in multi-disciplinary teams of at least 3 students, with one medical student and two students from two other faculties across our various schools at NUS. There is no limit to the maximum size of the team.

Interested to take part? Here’s what you need to know:

Form teams of at least 3 students meeting the minimum competition requirements (that’s a minimum of 1 medical student, 2 students from two other NUS schools/faculties)
Within your teams, decide on a problem in healthcare or medicine that you wish to solve
Work on your idea proposal submission as a team, and submit this by 30th September 2016
20 shortlisted finalist teams would be notified in October and will receive $500 in seed funding to develop a prototype of their innovation over the next 9 months until August 2017
These 20 finalist teams will compete for an eventual prize money worth up to $20,000 (1st prize), $15,000 (2nd prize), $10,000 (3rd prize), and five special prizes worth $5,000 each; this final judging will occur in August 2017.

We are looking for students who can help in the various engineering related activities leading to the final competition in August, 2017.
