“Keeping a little universe of my own, even in a crowd” 🇸🇬 Art Studio
My first attempt at this kind of exaggerated “big-head perspective” oil portrait.
What I wanted to paint wasn’t “beauty,” but an amplified emotional presence within a crowd.
By lowering the viewpoint and exaggerating the head, I wanted to magnify feelings of unease, sensitivity, and quiet observation — as if all the emotions inside were being brought to the surface.
People around her are rushing past,
while she seems to stand still on her own emotional planet, silently watching the world.
For the background, I used loose and blurred brushstrokes,
while keeping the figure more delicately rendered,
hoping to create a contrast between “reality” and the “inner world.”
Honestly, the hardest part of creating original work
is never the technique itself,
but whether you dare to paint your own feelings into it.
