We are incredibly proud to share that three of our Yusoffians from the Class of 2025 have been recognised at MOE’s Special Awards Presentation Ceremony 2026. 🏅

Tiffany Chu, Aedan Kok, and Hi Wish Elizabeth, you have made the entire Yusoffian community proud.

Tiffany has been awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence, which recognises well-rounded students who have excelled in both academic and non-academic spheres, and who exemplify the qualities of a well-developed youth. Aedan has been awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science, which promotes and recognises academic excellence in these fields. Wish has been awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Award for Outstanding Normal Course Students, which recognises students in the Normal course for their academic achievements and encourages them to continue striving for excellence.

What makes this moment even more special is that these three are part of the Class of 2025 — the very first batch of Yusoffians to have called our Sumang Walk campus home. They leave behind a legacy that future Yusoffians will look up to for years to come. 🌟

To their parents and families, thank you for your trust in us. Journeys like these are never walked alone, and your partnership has meant everything. To our teachers and staff, thank you for seeing the potential in each of them and for nurturing them every step of the way.

We hope that Tiffany, Aedan, and Wish’s achievements will inspire every Yusoffian to continue striving towards their own aspirations, because your journey, whatever path it takes, matters deeply to us.

Stay tuned in the coming months as we feature each of them and hear their stories in their own words. 👀

Congratulations, Tiffany, Aedan, and Wish. The YISS family is proud of you.🎉.

On 11 and 12 August, we had the opportunity to host our partner school, Suncheon Maesan Middle School. Over the two days, we welcomed our Korean buddies into our school, gave them a tour of our campus and attended lessons together, giving us a glimpse into each other’s school experiences and daily lives.

Beyond the classroom, we explored Singapore together, tried new foods, shared our cultures and created memories that we will remember for a long time. From exploring the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome at Marina Bay Sands and taking in the beautiful scenery to enjoying ice cream while watching the sunset, we discovered that some of the most meaningful moments came from simply spending time together. Through our conversations and shared experiences, we learnt more about each other’s lives and found ways to connect even when we spoke different languages.

Our time together reminded us that friendships can grow across cultures and languages. We learnt to be open to new experiences, appreciate our differences and find common ground with one another, simply talking, laughing and enjoying each other’s company.

Most importantly, we learnt that an international partnership is more than just visiting new places. It is about stepping into each other’s worlds, sharing perspectives and creating meaningful experiences together. We hope our SMMS buddies had as wonderful a time in Singapore as we did with them. Until we meet again! 🇸🇬🇰🇷✨

Months of preparation, countless practices, long hours, and unwavering dedication have all led to this incredible moment. 💪✨
Yusof Ishak Secondary School has emerged as Champions for this year’s Katapella competition! Our students and teachers came together, pushed through every challenge, and gave their very best to pull off a performance they could be proud of.
Most importantly, this team showed what it truly means to have G.R.I.T.
🌟 Gratitude – appreciating every person who supported the journey
🤝 Respect – valuing one another and learning from each other
💯 Integrity – giving their best and practicing when no one is watching
🫶 Teamwork – coming together as one team, one voice, one YISS

And, of course, we cannot forget our incredible supporters — our parents, friends, teachers and loved ones who have stood by our students every step of the way. ❤️
We extend our deepest and heartfelt thanks to everyone who believed in our students, encouraged them through the challenges, and continued to cheer them on throughout this journey. Your unwavering support has been an integral part of their success, and this victory is one that we celebrate with all of you. 🫶🏆

BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS! 🥎🏆

Our C Division Softball team proved what true determination looks like at this year’s National School Games. Despite facing a few early setbacks, our students clutched up, pushed through countless hours of intense training, and showed pure GRIT to bring home the gold.

Valerie (Captain) and Arissa (Vice-Capt) both hit a home run during the game, and as a special recognition, received a souvenir from the referee after the match.

For the second year in a row, Yusof Ishak Softball reigns as the League 3 National School Games Champions! ✨🥇

On 7 August, YISS celebrated Singapore’s 61st National Day, and what a celebration it was. 🇸🇬

Every year, we are reminded that the Singapore we know and love is hard won. It is built on the quiet sacrifice and commitment of many who came before us, and this National Day, that spirit was felt in every moment of our celebrations.

Our Uniformed Groups opened the parade with pride and precision, the result of weeks of hard training, grit, and discipline. These are not just the qualities of a good cadet. They are the qualities that build a nation. We are especially proud that 4 of our Uniformed Group members have been selected to march at this year’s National Day Parade at the National Stadium. What an incredible honour for them and for the YISS family! 🎖️

The celebration flowed into a joyful concert that brought everyone together as one big family. Our Parent Support Group had the whole school on their feet with the Dance of the Nation, our Modern Dance members lit up the stage, and our choir led a heartfelt sing-along that had teachers, school leaders, and students all singing side by side. 🎶

We were also honoured to welcome back two officers from the Republic of Singapore Navy, proud alumni who once sat where our students sit today. They shared how they now help keep our shores safe, along with stories from their own training journeys. A full-circle moment that reminded us just how far our Yusoffians can go, and how service to others is one of the most meaningful paths any of us can take.

To everyone who made the day possible, our students, staff, parents, and guests, thank you. This is what community looks like. Happy National Day, Singapore. 🎉

This National Day, we wanted to take a moment to honour those who don’t get to celebrate quite like the rest of us. 🇸🇬

While many of us enjoy public holidays and long weekends with our families, our police officers and firefighters continue to show up — quietly and without fanfare — to keep our community safe. This National Day, we wanted to say thank you.

In conjunction with the Singapore Kindness Movement, our Peer Support Leaders led the school in a heartfelt tribute to these everyday heroes. Our lower secondary students folded origami cranes, while upper secondary students penned personal notes of appreciation — each one a small but sincere expression of gratitude.

On 6 August, these tokens were presented to our friends at Punggol Fire Station and Punggol Neighbourhood Police Centre. It was a meaningful moment for our Yusoffians — a reminder that heroism isn’t always about capes and superpowers. Sometimes, it’s simply about showing up, day after day, for the people around you. 🚒👮

To everyone at Punggol Fire Station and Punggol NPC — thank you for your sacrifice, your dedication, and your service. Our community is safer because of you.

For the first time ever, YISS brought its annual Cross-Country to Punggol — and what a run it was! 🦸

This year’s run was more than just a race. Under the theme of *Superheroes*, our Yusoffians ran with purpose — raising funds for the President’s Challenge and embodying the spirit of giving back to the community. Our Top 5 fundraising CCAs got to nominate 10 staff members to be Superheroes for the Day, donning capes specially designed by our very own CCA students. 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

The scenic route took runners past the iconic Punggol Tidal Gates and Seletar Link, finishing just opposite our school entrance. Students and staff displayed tremendous heart and competitive spirit — heartiest congratulations to all our runners and finishers!

We were also honoured to have our community superheroes with us — officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force’s Punggol Fire Station, who joined the run in their red capes. A fitting tribute to the men and women who show up for our community every single day, cape or not. 🚒❤️

A huge thank you also to our Parent Support Group volunteers who came out in force to support and help organise the run — your dedication never goes unnoticed, and this event would not have been the same without you.

Here’s to many more runs in Punggol — and to all the everyday superheroes in our YISS family! 💪

The Secondary 1 students were treated to an hour of high energy performance presented by local arts group, Nadi Singapura at the Victoria Concert Hall on 22 July 2026.

Not only did they learn about the different instruments of the surrounding Malay Archipelago region, they were also engaged in learning the different Malay music genres (Masri, Inang, Zapin, Asli, Joget) through body percussion. It was certainly an ear-opening experience as the students made music together with the artistes, reverberating through the concert hall as one.

This concert was part of the Performing Arts Based Learning (PABL), a core learning experience for lower secondary students to appreciate a live arts performance at a local arts venue.

Yusof Ishak Secondary School wishes everyone a Happy National Day.
