It's birthday of one of the founders of pure mathematics -EULER --
During his academic career the scientist wrote about 880 works and the variety of multivolume monographs among them. About 30 years of his prolific academic career Euler devoted to the Imperial Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg. He left behind many outstanding works on different branches of mathematics, mechanics, physics, astronomy, applied science.
Some of his most famous works involve complex analysis, the gamma function, infinitude of primes, the proof of Newton’s identities, the development of topology, and calculating infinite sums.
The accident rendered him blind for the last twenty-five years of life but it did not stop him in his mathematical work. It only served as a small obstacle he had to maneuver around, as by this time he was a well-distinguished mathematician.

When visited France in 1779, Charles was inspired to study physics. He soon became an eloquent speaker to non-scientific audiences. His lectures and demonstrations attracted notable patrons and helped popularize Franklin's theory of electricity and other new scientific concepts.
He formulated the Charles's law in his unpublished work from the 1780s. (The law, describing how gases tend to expand when heated, was formulated by in 1802, but he credited it to unpublished work by Jacques Charles)
With and , he made several ascents, and was the first to use for balloon inflation (1783). Charles invented most of the equipment that is still used in today's balloons.
